Elle King is releasing America's Sweetheart as the proper follow-up single to debut 'Ex's and Oh's' - 'Under the Influence' seems to just be a single for Alternative radio. It goes to US radio on February 8th!

It's more country than 'Ex's and Oh's' but still maintains that slight rock edge. It took me several listens to click with Ex's and Oh's, but this one was immediate for me - very anthemic, maybe a little reminiscent of that early Mumford & Sons sound. Hopefully Ex's and Oh's success will mean radios will get on board with this too!

This was just ok for me when I first heard it in BJSC but Exe's and Oh's is considerably better.
I love this but I thought Under The Influence (which I prefer, second to Exs And Ohs on the album for me) was second! This is more radio friendly anyway, I think she'll probably be a one hit wonder here but it'll probably do ok in the US.
It's not that bad actually, not something that greatly excites me but you get a better idea from this of what her voice naturally sounds like. I prefer that song with the gramatically awful title but I was totally on the fence about whether she could actually sing or not.
This NEEDS to horrendously flop. Awful awful screechy song and one of the worst BJSC entries of last year :puke:

"America's Sweetheart" is only being services to Hot Adult Contemporary as far as I know, but it is being tested for pop radio, so hopefully they'll make a decision between that and "Under The Influence" soon.

I prefer the latter but there's no doubt that this is more suited for pop radio.

She seems talented, I like her voice but I don't like the way she's being marketed.

That is one horrendous video. What was the budget? Surely not directed by a professional?!

Song won't do a thing either although it's not bad.

I hear this all the time on ALT Nation (alternative station on satellite radio).

I consider about as alternative rock as Avril Lavigne. They have to be getting paid to play it so much.

I think the video looks fine except for... well, her really.

It's DREADFULLY directed! Like it looks like it was shot on somebody's phone (not even an iphone) by somebody who doesn't know shit about editing, framing or any other aspect of shooting a music video.
The video is definitely disappointing for a great song. I'm sad that she seems to be being marketed as an Avril Lavigne-esque pop-punk type when she's so much more artistically than that and has a great album out. Hopefully they market her more seriously soon.
