That's astonishing. A turnaround of Gary Barlow proportions, I just would never have expected it after they were ridiculed ten years ago for a #40 album.

Have they sold any more than they did at #40 ten years ago? I know in the midweeks they were on to match it. It's sad that sales have dropped so much.
Yeah 3k less! Considering how much the album market has collapsed, and that Studio 1 was released in Q4, I'm more than happy with this result. So good to see them doing well, the album is great
I don't think I saw it mentioned earlier but 'Ratchet Behaviour' features Cleo Higgens from The Voice UK (Series 2?) and Cleopatra!

I'm slowly working my way through this in a random order, good GRIEF 'Ratchet Behaviour' is nothing short of ear rape.

'Puppet On A String' is really good though!

The album's ... not great, but it's better than Studio 1 at least.

Still don't understand how they LOST ALL THEIR FANS THOUGH!!

Hundreds of thousands of albums, almost two million, between the first two here alone. I don;'t understand the huge dip. It's not like Spice Girls who became uncool as they were seen as only able to do cheesy music. All Saints were always appealing to a lot of people and ages so I don't get it.

For a start their peak was 15-20 years ago and, a brief stint in 2006 aside, they've barely been heard from since (their old teenage fans are now in their 30s, and music tastes change and develop in 20 years), and secondly the album market has fallen off a cliff in that period. I'd like to see any other 90s pop act aside from Take That score a top three album of new material. Scratch that, I'd like to see any pop act at ALL take a 10 year break and return with a top three album of new material.

But they mainly appealed to fully grown women and surely their tastes have remained the same? Also their sound is mature to appeal to people in their 30s too as they always had a mature sound.

I bought Studio 1 but not this one as Studio 1 was so bad it put me off.

I really don't understand why Studio 1 gets such a hard time. I feel like "#40" taints it unfairly. Personally, I actually find it a better overall body of work than their first two albums (which I find to be pretty inconsistent).

Also, filing 'Ratchet Behaviour' under "songs people take too seriously".

Studio 1 is a much better overall album than their first two. The first album has absolutely nothing to offer aside from a few of the singles and Saints + Sinners has probably one or two decent tracks aside from the first two singles.

All the girls at my school were obsessed with them and I would have been 10/11 at the time, they appealed to 'coming of age' teens and sure some of their songs appealed to older audiences too but I don't think that was their core fanbase at all. They were on the cover of Smash Hits, in all the tabloids every day and releasing songs filled with sexual references, just like any other 90s pop band was, it's not like they were marketed as an MOR/Radio 2 act at the time, even though much of their music suited that market.

I still personally think the fact that a band from the 90s - that was marketed as a predominantly teen friendly act at the time - can score a top three album of new material nearly 20 years on is highly impressive, and I'd love to see any of their contemporaries come back with a new top three studio album now - I'm talking 5ive, B*Witched, Another Level etc... not Corrs, Simply Red, Lighthouse Family - who very much WERE predominantly aimed at an older market and therefore would technically still find it easier to shift albums now.

BTW, I would still count Studio 1 as one of my all time top 100 albums, I feel the flop was completely undeserved because it's not like it was packed with filler. The singles, On and On, Scar, One Me and U, Headlock, Flashback and Fundamental were all excellent.

Studio 1 is great! It only gets a hard time because it flopped I think, as Jay said it was a much better body of work than the first two albums which are good but not great. Red Flag is my favourite of theirs already though I think, it's just so excellent and with every listen, I'm enjoying it more and more  Ratchet Behaviour is giving me life right now, definitely think it's one not to be taken too seriously.

Oh and the chart position is excellent, it's crazy that they can get a top 3 album in 2016, 10 years after the #40 disaster, they are in no way flops and with such rubbish radio support in general, it's a miracle they even got that high. Delighted for them and the success they're experiencing right now!!

For me it's not a matter of whether or not I take 'Ratchet Behaviour' seriously, everything about it just sounds horrible but most of all the effects on the vocals.

I think it probably helps to have heard some of their earlier material (and, I'd argue, Shaznay's solo album) to get 'Ratchet Behaviour'. Like I got it straight away being able to connect it fairly easily with say, 'Mr Dawg' that was on Shaznay's album. (A Basement Jaxx co-write too, no less)

I don't like any of their albums. I think the first two are full of filler and Studio 1 pure shet. Haven;t decided on this one yet, except to say it's not the best.

Perhaps only the Spice Girls.

I loved them (singles, and also their solo stuff!! 24/ 7  ) but so did my mam's friends! I think if they WEREN'T marketed as a MOR band AS WELL as a teen band then their record label really missed a beat to make them huuuge. I mena, The Beach, Black Coffee, I can't see those songs appealing to (many) teenagers.
