January 28, 20169 yr Hi Liam! I'm sure you could've mustered up a new entry or two ;) Nice to see 99 Souls doing so well, and of course Little Mix. At the risk of repeating what I just replied to your comment on my chart, I'm really pleased this era is going so well for them. My only qualm with 'Secret Love Song' doing so well is that it will outpeak 'Love Me Like You' which has now become my firm favourite by them, and I'm still a bit miffed that it missed the Top 10! Good to also see 5SOS doing so well, 'Jet Black Heart' is definitely very under-rated and under-loved around here. And everywhere else in fact! Great stuff but hoping to see a bit more movement next week :P
January 29, 20169 yr Hi Liam! :D I really like your #1, The Girl Is Mine is a really inspired sample I think, using two songs we don't normally hear in remakes *cough*Show Me Love*cough* and mashing them together quite imaginatively. Glad it's been a big hit, and managed to get Destiny's Child and Brandy into the UK top 5 again *.* Obviously I'm delighted to see 5SOS and Shawn in your top 10 too. The former haven't seemed to capture the public's imagination this era sadly, shame as I love Jet Black Heart, much better than Hey Everybody! (their worst single for me), shame it got way less Radio 1 support :drama: Stitches being a huge hit however still delights me, it's a song I've been loving for months and there's nothing more satisfying than seeing it finally climb to #1. Fantastic chart! :D
January 30, 20169 yr Hi Liam Glad to see 99 Souls be so big here, love how the tracks blend so well and the chorus is insanely good, glad it's finally grown into such a big hit and hearing more Beyoncé in the charts is always a good thing. I'm enjoying SLS a lot at the moment but it's still way weaker than the previous two singles imo. The chorus is really good though and a really nice moment, shame Jason Derulo sounds like a robot and at one point it sounds like he runs out of battery :lol: Ex's and Oh's has got a really nice chorus and her voice shines on it during that moment too, the verses are alright too. Hope it does make the top 10 officially but feel like it's sales will drop before it reaches that stage :(

I had a listen to all the songs shooting up high on iTunes but they either didn't particularly hit me or were already in my chart! There will be a bit of a clear out in my incoming chart though, so stay tuned. ;) 'Love Me Like You' is probably my favourite Little Mix song too but I'd bet on 'Secret Love Song' ending high up there too so, as much as I'd have loved the former to have hit the Top 10, I wouldn't want this to miss out just because of that. The sales for 'LMLY' more than make up for the #11 peak for me! Yeah, 'Jet Black Heart' needs some love. :( Shame 5SOS have somehow lost all their fans this era when the music has generally been better! Fantastic chart! :D Hi Joseph, thanks for commenting! :D Agreed, it is pretty inspired as far as covers/samples go! It helps that the song doesn't just rely on the hooks from the original two songs - if you were to listen to the choruses to both 'Girl' and 'The Boy is Mine', the only thing recognisably similar is the title of the latter! Plus it's pretty impressive to take a song as iconic as 'The Boy is Mine' and make people not even think about that song! Oh and I've not really got much time for various tracks that sample/copy the bubbly house melody of 'Show Me Love'; like, find you're own hook! :lol: Your tastes are make more and more of an impression in my chart! :P I'm really gutted by 5SOS' lack of success this era and I'm annoyed at the lack of Radio 1 support 'Jet Black Heart' got when the terrible 'Hey Everybody' spent an eternity on the A-list. :angry: But in regards to Shawn, I'm happy he's had a couple of weeks at #1 - after the abundance of dance and singer-songwriter acoustic music, it's so great to see pure pop shine through, and I totally agree how satisfying it is for a song you've been loving for ages ends up getting success months later! It is just so huge in the clubs and never fails to get the mood going and I think that's partially why it has grown to be so successful. Of course, any excuse for more Beyonce is welcome! :kink: I think it could end up as my favourite! 'Love Me Like You' is definitely way up there and I think will remain high when the dust has settled, but 'Secret Love Song' has a real magic about it too. I agree Jason could do with not being on the track, but I'm not so fussed about the Part II version so I'm stuck with him! :P 'Black Magic' isn't anywhere near as great as it is received - still undeniably great but I see 11/10 marks for it everywhere when it's about a 7 or 8 for me. I'd love 'Ex's & Oh's' to go Top 10 but I agree its sales aren't going strong enough to manage that and there's a lot of competition for the Top 10 right now. I'm fine with that though because I never expected it to do this well; it felt much like a heavily-supported-by-Radio-2 track that somehow fails to cross-appeal. It just wasn't really a...moment (:kink:) on the album when it was first announced as a single which is partly down to it. Still gutted 'Timebomb' wasn't properly pushed. :(
