The next few weeks will be interesting for #1s

Next week it wouldn't surprise me if Fast Car is the sales #1 but could get stuck at #2 due to Zayn's streams (i'd imagine Zayn's streams may slow a bit next week though). 7 Years is climbing very quick on streaming and sales so could definitely be a contender too. I didn't think Work had much of a chance to begin with but her sales seem to holding up well and if she puts the song/album on Spotify then she could certainly get close (FFS was #1 on streaming too).

Nice to see Lukas Graham at 3 now
If PILLOWTALK hadn't have come around the chart would have been a lot better :(

Id like to see him at no1 in the coming weeks - its a great track!

On the subject of '7 Years' being this year's token big early year singer-songwritery type hit... it's okay, at least it's not as jarring as 'Take Me To Church'.
Take me to Church was amazing, those lyrics, not very often found in pop songs, course not for everybody, he didn't aim at the teen but rather grown-ups

Coldplay - Hymn for the Weekend

The Karaoke effect + video effect.. it was 32 before the video, and that's before the SB and the Brits and only on C-List right now on Radio 1. Could be big!

7 Years is absolutely horrific. Say what you want about the overt nature of 'Take Me To Church' but at least it was written well and struck a chord, '7 Years' is laughably bad lyrically.

I thought it was a joke when I heard it, what an awful song.

So glad to see this climbing! It could possibly go top 10 after Superbowl. Does that normally have a big effect in the UK?

I've always thought 7 Years was quite nice lyrically

Yes! Makes me think of childhood memories  especially while watching the lyric video at the same time.

I like the song itself as well, so I'm quite happy for it to do well :D I seem to be liking this kind of thing a lot recently, maybe because it seems to be a popular genre in the charts right now or that it's just my preference at the current moment :P

7 Years certainly has more interesting lyrics than the likes of Pillowtalk, History, Stitches and most other songs in the chart. Would rather that it goes to #1 than another week of Zayn.

Fast Car has even better lyrics though and a great production to back it so that for next week's #1 plzthnkzbye.

I find the production the worst thing about it. It's so bargain basement.

Actually slightly baffled at the hate for the 7 Years lyrics? It's essentially someone's life story, it's beautifully written and incredibly powerful. They are far from "laughably bad".

No hate for the Stitches/History lyrics either please cause whilst they're not exactly masterpieces, they're still well crafted pop songs.

I don't think any songs specifically have 'laughably bad' lyrics - they must be good to a certain extent otherwise they wouldn't have made it to the cut as a single and got in the charts :heehee:
