February 6, 20169 yr It's great they are going to Bangkok that with Singapore is basically a re-run of the Nobody Else tour from '95. Compared to other artists on the site below there isn't much diversity for example I'd love them to play a show in South Africa maybe, Mexico, Canada, Argentina etc the list is endless. It's great they are going back to places after such a long time (decades) but imagine the excitement of fans in countries who get to see them live for the first time. This is what it says on setlist.fm for countries I don't know if they have got all of their concerts down United Kingdom (305) Germany (40) Ireland (14) Italy (11) Netherlands (7) Denmark (6) Switzerland (5) Australia (5) Belgium (4) Austria (3) Thailand (2) Japan (2) Spain (2) United States (1) Singapore (1) Sweden (1) Indonesia (1) France (1) Finland (1) United Arab Emirates (1) Edited February 6, 20169 yr by nirvanamusic
February 7, 20169 yr Yeah I'm pleased that they are more receptive to playing abroad again. Also helps gauge the demand for a 25th anniversary tour in these places.
February 7, 20169 yr Im looking forward to all the 25 years celebrations and run up to it as i think its going to be good,
March 5, 20169 yr Backstreet Boys have just said they are looking into a Las Vegas residency which if true will draw people away from Take That unfortunately I feel.
March 5, 20169 yr Well, BSB should take a step back :P Nobody can put on a live show like TT and this is TT's time to shine :D
March 6, 20169 yr I see where you're coming from but it's nostalgic that gets people to these places like TT with The Ultimate Tour back in 2006. Between the two if they run at the same time (I hope I'm proven wrong as TT have in my opinion a much more diverse catalogue between the two) the American audiences would go for a familiar name/songs. If that is the case best thing would be for Brits in Vegas to go along to the show but would that hold them up? It also goes against the booking which is to draw a diverse packed show and appeal to non Brits.
March 7, 20169 yr Author Do you think they think that they could break out big worldwide? I know they already have gone big in many territories, but maybe it is time for a comeback.
March 7, 20169 yr I think now at least there is a presence because they have physically gone back to Asia which means if an album comes out provided it's not years later it is fresh and can be reported more if that makes sense. Out of sight out of mind type of thing.
March 10, 20169 yr This just bizarre now...! Backstreet Boys are now developing a musical based on their rise to fame which again is something Take That/Gary mentioned only moments earlier. Like the Las Vegas residency there seems to be a lot of deju vu going on. Reunion record with the five which they said they listened to Progress during and then they brought out a film documentary similar to 'Look Back Don't Stare' etc etc previously. The thing is they have said especially in the UK that Take That are their inspiration as an older group and that their management have looked into how Take That have remained relevant as an older and similar act etc. I just couldn't believe that first it's the Las Vegas residency which TT have and then now a musical based on the same thing as the TT one. I think with BSB because next to no one knows Take That in America or even the whole of North America they think they can just take stripes from what TT do and apply it for America. March 10, 20169 yr From reading this it is vert complementary to Take That. On a worldwide level the Backstreet Boys were much bigger so it is a wonderful nod to Take That.
March 11, 20169 yr It may be complimentary, but it also looks as if they're trying to steal TT's thunder in America.
March 11, 20169 yr I don't expect many people in the UK know or care about BSB anymore. They had some hits, but then so did Damage, 911 and 5ive
March 31, 20169 yr Has anyone heard anymore details on this? Would love to know when and where they will be playing...
April 5, 20169 yr Well Backstreet Boys have signed a deal to do a trial residency (9 shows) to see if there's enough interest for a full residency. I'm assuming Take That will do something similar to this as well http://edition.cnn.com/2016/04/04/entertai...feat/index.html
April 5, 20169 yr That would make sense. With America, Backstreet Boys are a far bigger name and if they are testing the water with a 9 night residency i would assume Take That will have to do the same.
April 5, 20169 yr For the life of me, I can't imagine BSB doing a Vegas show :/ I hope TT announce soon their shows as well. I imagine - and I hope - that Gary's name and reputation as a songwriter in America will attract more interest than a band whose name reflects the nature of their gigs.
