January 31, 20169 yr Author 12. Axwell Λ Ingrosso - Something New Score: 51 Votes: 6 QwaVVsvLlc4 Former Swedish House Mafia members Axwell & Ingrosso teamed up in duo guise last year for the release of Something New. The house track just missed the top 20, debuting at #22 but outperformed their 2 subsequent singles including Sun Is Shining, which should have been a massive hit. This song scored remarkably high for one which only received 6 scores.
January 31, 20169 yr Author 11. Duke Dumont - The Giver (Reprise) Score: 52 Votes: 9 6oAqOFz6QsU The final faller before the top 10 is Duke Dumont with a remix of one of his first releases, 'The Giver'. Following two #1's and a #2 single, this track could only manage a #32 peak and 2 weeks in the top 40. Another great track from him but it couldn't quite make the top 10 in this countdown. Top 10 to be revealed later tonight.
January 31, 20169 yr Author 10. Florence + The Machine - Ship To Wreck Score: 58 Votes: 13 B9v8jLBrvug Florence + The Machine managed to get two songs into the top 10 and the second one chronologically appears lower. Ship To Wreck was the follow up to 'What Kind Of Man' and managed to outchart it, peaking at #27, along with managing a further week top 40. I personally prefer this track of the two but how well will the other one finish?
January 31, 20169 yr Author 9. Florence + The Machine - What Kind Of Man Score: 70 Votes: 13 XgeKHTcufLY Just as things tend to happen, both of Flo's appearances come one after the other. 'What Kind Of Man' became the band's first hit since their only #1 to date 'Spectrum' back in 2012. The song only managed to peak at #37 however, but outperforms its successor in this countdown.
January 31, 20169 yr Author 8. Kygo feat. Parson James - Stole The Show Score: 75 Votes: 14 BgfcToAjfdc In eighth is a Norwegian who had a pretty good 2015 all things considered. 'Firestone' took him all the way to the top 10 and whilst 'Stole The Show' couldn't do the same, peaking at #24, it still managed a lengthy run in the chart. One of the first to bring the tropical house sound to the mainstream, the future is looking very bright for Kygo.
January 31, 20169 yr Author 7. Sia - Alive Score: 77 Votes: 14 t2NgsJrrAyM Sia was very much back with a bang in 2014 with her top 10 hit 'Chandelier'. The success would carry on into 2015 with 'Elastic Heart' repeating the feat. Next single 'Alive' was less successful, managing one week at #30 but coming close to re-entering following an X Factor performance.
January 31, 20169 yr Author 6. Foxes - Body Talk Score: 79 Votes: 16 VAerYplzZUE Foxes returned with era #2 last year but lead single 'Body Talk' couldn't make the top 20 like her 3 previous solo tracks, peaking at #25. It would only notch one further week in the top 40 and she is yet to manage another hit since, could this year see any return to form?
January 31, 20169 yr Body Talk top 10, by far the best (and only good) thing she's done this era
January 31, 20169 yr Author 5. Taylor Swift - Wildest Dreams Score: 89 Votes: 13 IdneKLhsWOQ Since Taylor Swift pulled all her music from streaming it was always going to be difficult scaling the UK Charts at least. Whilst 'Bad Blood' made the top 10, two of her other hits last year couldn't grace the top half of the top 40, this one just scraping in for a couple of weeks. The video for 'Wildest Dreams' brought out some controversy but the song was another generally successful one from her huge album '1989'. Taylor manages to get both her songs into the top 5, but can 'Style' take the crown? Edited January 31, 20169 yr by Dobbo
January 31, 20169 yr Author 4. Ariana Grande - One Last Time Score: 96 Votes: 14 BPgEgaPk62M Following two #1s in 2014, Ariana Grande found herself a sleeper hit in the UK with 'One Last Time'. It steadily ascended the chart to an eventual peak of #24. I'm a big fan of this track, a change in sound to her usual hits and featured a spectacular video to boot.
January 31, 20169 yr Author 3. Selena Gomez feat. A$AP Rocky - Good For You Score: 104 Votes: 15 DXKHCgNFk1I Continuing her more sultry R&B sound last year, Selena Gomez scored another top 40 hit, this time a more successful long-runner. Featuring A$AP Rocky (who achieved his first UK top 40 in the process) the song peaked at #23 and received widespread acclaim. A really good track and certainly my favourite of the top 3 here. Which leaves us with a final two of Pray To God Vs Style!
January 31, 20169 yr Author 2. Taylor Swift - Style Score: 116 Votes: 20 -CmadmM5cOk Runner-up this year is Taylor Swift with 'Style'. Another track taken from '1989' this would have a lengthy chart run culminating in a #21 peak. Very unlucky to just miss the the top 20 but had it been available for streaming it undoubtedly would have managed it. Perhaps fitting it doesn't win this contest but it came very close and did receive the most votes of all tracks, only 5 participants not awarding it any points.
January 31, 20169 yr Author 1. Calvin Harris feat. HAIM - Pray To God Score: 122 Votes: 19 8FOBxcluXdk Which means this year's champs are Calvin Harris & HAIM with their collaboration 'Pray To God'. HAIM of course were runners-up last year and have gone one better this time round. The track, taken from Calvin's album 'Motion', experienced a surprisingly unsuccessful chart run, only managing to peak at #35 and spend 3 total weeks top 40, contrary to his usual single performances. However it has had its moment in this countdown, a deserving winner overall. Thanks once again, full results & semis will be posted in the OP at some point tomorrow!
January 31, 20169 yr yay at the underrated Pray To God winning, I still don't get what happened for that to not be the big top 10 it should've been. Silly commercial radio not playing it enough -_-
January 31, 20169 yr I thought you hated Pray To God. Great winner, although I wish Wildest Dreams was the runner-up instead of Style.
February 1, 20169 yr Ooh, I thought Style had this locked up. Both are great but very happy to see Pray To God come out on top
February 1, 20169 yr Author I thought you hated Pray To God. I wasn't a huge fan of it at the time (and thought there were better options on the album) but have grown a little more to it since. Definitely his weakest in the last few years IMO though.
