It's not part of a bigger plan. They literally used a screengrab of the video for the album cover - this is intented to be taken seriously.

The album cover is just totally lazy. Sure, she looks great, but the fact they couldn't even get a photoshoot done for it... :drama: (or a re-done photoshoot if the director guy scrapped it as was mentioned before) The original video would've been much better I think although with regards to iTunes, I think we need to remember that it's a rolling chart, and it had a massive boost from the album pre-order so maybe it's still wearing off and we'll see a boost in the coming days? Just thinking out loud here really.

I kinda miss the old days, pre-social media, where we would have just got this video and it would have slayed us.

 

I think I dislike it 10x more because I know there's a better video out there. Ignorance would be bliss in this case because it's really ruining the hype that was building for the album :(

Exactly. If I just saw this video without the LaChapelle drama it would still be a minor let down, but, I'd be okay with it. The video could have been a black and white compiled of close up shots and the solo scenes of her dancing and I'd be happy with it. However, that Mandy Moore circa 2002 storyline is cringeworthy and I loathe it.

 

 

So the video got less than half the first day views of 'Pretty Girls'.

I'm here for the visuals. The high energy dance sequences and her in the cage would have 100% satisfied me even if the rest was garbage.

Agreed. I don't think the original video would have been a masterpiece at all, but it would have had some amazing things going for it whereas this is her worst ever music video. You're talking about an 8/10 video versus a -1/10 video.

Even in dogshit LQ Aand with awkward splicing, that version already has so much more reply value for me lol.

 

The whole situation and petition is getting so much attention from the media : rolling stone, billboard etc have reported on it. I know it's a very low chance but given its been made into such a big deal maybe they will put out the original....

One can only hope. Or at the very least have someone in her camp leak it! The leak alone would cause a massive spike. I feel like the only reason 'Make Me' hasn't plummeted down the iTunes chart is because of the original video leaks and the GP comparing the two. THE GENERAL PUBLIC EVEN PREFERS SLUTNEY.
