February 17, 20169 yr Author Let's also take a look at some facts that will take place during the results: - The results are going to be a bloodbath. There is only a massive 42 wrong answers across the questions and another 5 which are half wrong! And there is a wrong answer for every single question. - We have trolls, we have people kind of trying to play clever but failing and we have people who are going to be kicking themselves at how they misread the question! - The leaderboard is very close at the top of the bottom - One question has a lot of answers for the same 'item', which question? - Two questions have impacted the leaderboard heavily! - Let's have fun *.*
February 17, 20169 yr I feel like a lot of those hints were indirected at me! :kink: I know a couple of my "tactical" answers probably have fired back  excited for this nonetheless!
February 17, 20169 yr Author Starting in half an hour, hype and comments from now please would be much appreciated
February 17, 20169 yr I don't imagine I got any wrong answers, or did I (o ) Coming to slay hopefully
February 17, 20169 yr Author Sorry at the delay, my friend is having a bit of a problem at the moment so struggling to find time! I can do a couple of the questions now at least and worst comes to worst I'll continue around 8/8:30! Hype for 1st question
February 17, 20169 yr Author 1. Name an actress who has received 6 or more Oscar nominations. http://i65.tinypic.com/287m4pk.jpg Queens Kate and Meryl in the pic *.* An easy question, probably the easiest to get a pointless on because I worded the question to say something I didn't mean! It was meant to be name a Lead Actress but I forgot the lead part! Well anyway many pointless for many great actresses and 3 legends: Kate, Bette and Meryl all picked up 1 point each! 3 wrong answers here though. Bre is trolling as Pixie Lott will obviously not get anywhere close to 1, Angelina Jolie is an incredible actress but she has only had 2 Oscar nominations and while Katherine Hepburn has received over 6 nominations, Audrey Hepburn has only received 5 and therefore is a wrong answer. POINTLESS: 0: Greer Garson- Ultraviolence1989 0: Judi Dench- Regina 0: Jane Fonda- Richie 0: Maggie Smith- Burbe 0: Jessica Lange- Jonjo 0: Sissy Spacek- Acidburn 0: Deborah Kerr- Josh 0: Geraldine Page- Alex! 0: Ingrid Bergman- HarryEzra 0: Katherine Hepburn- Lotti 0: Vanessa Redgrave- Haus 0: Glenn Close- Mack 1: Kate Winslet- Jahq, Jade 1: Meryl Streep- Dobbo, NotFurlong 1: Bette Davis- Chez Wombat, Oliver 21: Angelina Jolie- Dan 21: Audrey Hepburn- Joe 21: Pixie Lott- Bre
February 17, 20169 yr Author 2. Name a winner at the first Oscars (1929). http://i66.tinypic.com/2j60z8.jpg The 1st Academy Awards were held in 1929 and featured many categories that nowadays do not exist! However all the Pointless goes to categories still standing: Best Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actress and of course Best Picture! Most people got low points with Seventh Heaven/Sunrise/Underworld all being popular choices and a clever answer from Jahq and Dan was unlucky to not score them a pointless as I didn't even notice Charlie had won an award when I wrote up the question! 2 wrongs answers here, we all know Madonna is old but not that old and we all know Morgan Freeman has been around for basically forever but still not that long! Question 3 has 6 wrong answers, who's starting to fall! POINTLESS: 0: Emil Jannings (Best Actor)- Ultraviolence1989 0: Benjamin Glazer (Best Writing, Adapted)- Jonjo 0: Janet Gaynor (Best Actress)- NotFurlong 0: Wings (Best Picture) - Mack 1: The Dove: William Cameron Menzies (Best Art)- Joe, Jade 1: Charlie Chapman (Honorary Award)- Jahq, Dan 1: Lewis Milestone (Best Director, Comedy)- HarryEzra, Lotti 2: Charles Rosher & Karl Struss- Sunrise (Academy Award for Best Cinematography)- Regina, Richie, Josh 2: Frank Borzage – Seventh Heaven for Best Director- Burbe, Alex!, Haus 2: Underworld – Ben Hecht (Best Writing, Original Screenplay)- Acidburn, Chez Wombat, Oliver 21: Morgan Freeman- Dobbo 21: Madonna- Bre
February 17, 20169 yr Ooh a good start :cheer: I am doubting myself on some of them though, but hopefully I don't do too terribly like usual on these Movie quizzes :arrr: Bré is funneh x
February 17, 20169 yr Wtf, did I defiantely put Audrey Hepburn for the first one? I seriously muddled up the questions if I did that, because she's not what I have down in my notes. :drama:
February 17, 20169 yr Author 3. Name an actor or actress who has been nominated twice for playing the same character. http://i68.tinypic.com/vrg8xw.jpg 5 possible answers I think and all 5 got answered more than once so no wrong answers here! Al Pacino got nominated twice for Godfather, Paul Newman I'm not too sure, Peter O'Toole for Henry II, Sylvester Stallone for Rocky (hopefully he'll win this year!) and the always great Cate Blanchett for her portrayal as Queen Elizabeth I (which is the only good thing about the movies, well the 2nd one as not seen the 1st I don't think). So of course we have some wrong answers, Hopkins has been nominated a few times and also the character Hannibal has been nominated a couple of times but Hopkins only got nommed once for his performance! Barry Fitzgerald and Humphrey Bogart were good guesses but incorrect, Bre continues his losing streak and Dan and Dobbo also get their 2nd question wrong tonight! POINTLESS: NONE 1: Al Pacino (Godfather ½)- Joe, HarryEzra 1: Paul Newman- Acidburn, Oliver 2: Peter O’Toole (Henry II)- Burbe, Chez Wombat, Haus 2: Sylvester Stallone- Jonjo, Josh, Lotti 4: Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth I)- Ultraviolence1989, Jahq, Alex!, NotFurlong, Jade 21: Anthony Hopkins- Mack 21: Barry Fitzgerald- Regina 21: Humphery Bogart- Richie 21: Samuel L. Jackson- Dobbo 21: Daniel Radcliffe- Bre 21: Will Smith- Dan
February 17, 20169 yr I answered before you changed the question :snif: he did technically get nominated twice for the same character :kink: Edited February 17, 20169 yr by Regina
February 17, 20169 yr Author 4. Name an Oscar host who has hosted the Oscars 3 or more times. http://i67.tinypic.com/dwjfl.jpg Quite a few correct answers here and back to pointless for Jonjo and Josh! Bob Hope and Jerry Lewis scored a point while we had another 3 way tie for the top answer btetween Jack Lemmon who I'm pretty sure most of us thought would be really obscure, oops!, comedy great Billy Crystal who has hosted it many times before, most recently a couple of years ago, and Sister Act's Whoopi Goldberg who is incredible *.* Again we have wrong answers from Bre, Dan and Dobbo! If Steve Harvey hosted, he'd probably announce awards for the wrong ceremony after the Miss Universe slip-up and I'm surprised Ellen has only hosted it twice, I thought she'd hosted it more than that! POINTLESS: 0: Steve Martin- Jonjo 0: Johnny Carlson- Josh 1: Bob Hope- Chez Wombat, Mack 1: Jerry Lewis- Lotti, Oliver 3: Jack Lemmon- Ultraviolence1989, Richie, Acidburn, Haus 3: Billy Crystal- Regina, Joe, Jahq, HarryEzra 3: Whoopi Goldberg- Burbe, Alex!, NotFurlong, Jade 21: Steve Harvey- Bre 21: Ellen DeGeneres- Dan 21: Jerry Springer- Dobbo
