Tories always have the referendum result hanging over their heads like the Sword Of Damocles though.

Hopefully that sword will come through swinging once everyone sees the result, and that will be the end of the Tory Party for a generation.

It is REALLY pertinent.

No it isn't!

You seem to cling to the assumption that the 28% who didn't vote are all 'secret Remainers', despite there being no evidence to support that.

Even if there could have been a full turnout, those 12.9m abstainers would have had to vote 55-45 for Remain in order to change the result.

I cannot imagine a Corbyn-led gov't lasting longer than one term - quite apart from anything else, he would be 73 in 2022, and PM is a very stressful job...

The difference was 1 million so no. Lots of abstainers um LIVE IN EUROPE.

It really is a pertinent point. The country is divided. There is no victory so no one should force us out. People haven't sperkewrrn.

You seem to be under the impression that this fragile, collapsing, evil Tory govt will last?

The Tories will be out. Hopefully their grubby sex scandal posh boy party will NEVER recover.

I agree (gasp!). They would have to go for someone younger.....

You do remember there's no easy way to remove a gov't, other than in a GE, right?

It might be an idea to play down the sex scandal aspect, given that a number of Labour MP's have also been accused...

You forget that the Tories don't have a majority. If the DUP abandon their agreement, the government can be defeated in a confidence motion.

No I hadn't.

The DUP would have to vote against the Tories as well as everyone else, as without them all the others combined only total 315, against the Tories 318 (as Sinn Fein don't take up their HoC seats).

I wonder if in the above situation the Tories could demand their £1bn back?

40 MPs 'on the verge' of writing a letter to topple Mad May.

Oops.

This feels like the pre 1997 Tory omnishambles propped up by the billionaire media.

Mayhem: I am calling a G.E. to get your support for my vision of a Hard Brexit and No Deal if it comes to that.

Electorate: Get stuffed!

Mayhem: Well, I'm putting it into law anyway and keeping all the Mad useless Brexiteers in my cabinet even though it's obvious they haven't a clue.

I must've missed that one - did it happen after the one on the 8th June? :P

you probably did as it was a democratic election specifically chosen by the PM to give her the expected landslide to follow her vision. That's what she asked for, 20 points ahead in the polls, she thought.

As you don't read papers, you prob missed that she failed to get even a majority never mind keep the lead they already had as the electorate rejected her appeal to go for a Hard Brexit.

But as Ive said many times she really does like her Brexits Hard. Harder the better. Sod the electorate and the UK's future. So in answer to your question, yes it WAS after the referendum and is a more recent demonstration of public opinion.

Seems like you only like democracy when it suits you.... :P

European Parliament Sets Out Its Vision

This document reaffirms my decision to vote Leave - its increasing movement towards federalisation is intimidating to me.

Funny, because the intro alone says it wants to be MORE democratically answerable to the people of Europe, and listen to what they want from Europe, while making sure they protect the EU and it's interests.

I can see why you find it intimidating, pesky democracy and looking after the interests of its peoples. Selfish bast*rds.

Ah, but you miss the main difference between me, and the Remain majority on this forum...

You/they *trust* the EU to deliver their promises - I however, do not!

As for democracy - it is *impossible* to deliver more of it, while diluting each country's say by adding more member countries.

No, the difference is that some of us are not paranoid.

It's not paranoia if they really are plotting against you. :teresa:
