Never underestimate the Oprah effect. Janet Jackson’s new Virgin Records album, 20 Y.O., is feeling the love from Winfrey’s audience after her appearance on Monday and, based on one-day sales reports from those retailers who haven’t lost our e-mail address, the album could top next week’s HITS chart with a total anywhere between 340-360k. All that and a 60-pound weight loss to boot. Her last album, Damita Jo, which was released in March 2004, bowed with 381k in sales.

The renaissance man known as Luda, Dirty South rapper Ludacris’ Release Therapy is offering just that to shop owners nationwide with a 290-310k total, which will put him in the running for #1 if Janet’s totals begin to fall off, and a certain #2.

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

but with less sales than Damita Jo

Ive been thinking about it, and this situation kind of reminds me of Mariah. Janets '20 Y.O' is like Mariahs 'Charmbracelet' both following resopective flops and meaning to be big comebacks, but not amounting to much

So is she #1 in America then?

We won't know until Thursday, but yes it's looking very likely. ;)

heres an update for you guys

oh god its even worse

''Janet Jackson's "20 Y.O." enters at No. 2 with 296,000, Jackson's eighth straight top three debut. However, it's her smallest debut sales week since "The Velvet Rope" started at No. 1 with 202,000 in 1997.''

:(

Goodness! dunno wether to laugh or sigh! Thats pretty bad but y'know...Janet needs to promote her records! Posing topless on mens mags is hardly gonna help when ur 40!! :(
