G'day indie kids,

It's time we got in on the anniversary action.

We all love albums as much as we love single tracks and we relish the chance to get lost in our favorite artist's world. Time to look back at the albums that meant most to us since the birth of our great website and document what we feel are the best examples of long players since OHSIX.

Whether it's been Kings of Leon or the Killers; Suede or LCD Sound System; Bloc Party or Arcade Fire....come and have your say.

The rules are pretty simple.

1. The album must have been released in the UK between 1st Jan 2006 and 9th March 2016. Re-releases and compilations don't count.

2. The artist must be one that would warrant a thread in this forum rather than any other one on Buzzjack - so, Daft Punk and Amy Winehouse would not qualify for this chart, no matter how much we love them. But Burial would as we have seen threads on Burial in this forum.

3. List up to 30 of your favourite albums from the period in question, in order so I can give them points.

4. It would be great if you could use the following style when listing your albums

Two digits, one space, artist and album.

01 Arcade Fire - Reflektor

5. Post them in THIS THREAD as they may inspire someone else to remember something they have forgotten.

6. You can edit your choices but please post a new post saying that you have edited them so that I can keep up.

7. Don't be offended if a discussion breaks out regarding one of your chosen artists being valid - in most cases it will be valid but sometimes not.

8. You have one week - until 23:59 Wed 16th March. I will do the results on the evening of the 17th.

Any questions please ask.

Colm

The National - Alligator - was that 2005?

I'll be voting for High Violet...

Exciting idea Colm! Will try to put some kind of list together.

Question. Would Björk's 'Vulnicura Strings' count, if I'm already putting in the original 'Vulnicura'? I'm not sure if I'll have room for the former whatever the case, but I might want to add it because it has really struck a chord with me lately.

Yeah, I don't see why not.

Oh wow, I didn't expect so. I can see why it wouldn't be acceptable as it's basically a re-make. Still quite different from the original though. Have you listened to it btw? It's gorge

There are probably still so many albums I feel like I should've listened to at this stage and I don't even know where to begin  Too much good music in the world  It might end up being quite difficult narrowing it down to just 20 albums but I shall try my best!

Do we think this should be extended to 30 albums? Which wouldn't make it mandatory for everyone but would allow more room for some posters.

I must go back and listened to Vampire Weekend's debut again.

Not quite sure on what this rule is getting at, a lot of my favourite albums come from bands that maybe don't have a big following on the site such as Tonight Alive or PVRIS, would such albums be okay to include?

I'm trying to prevent a landslide of Adele albums.

Regarding Tonight Alive or PVRIS - would you see them as artists that would have a thread in indie/alternative rather than pop, dance or rnb/rap?

Marina and the Diamonds is POP !!!!

Maybe Florence + the Machine too.

She is but as her threads are in this forum she's allowed.

Yes please! :D

Yes, I believe she is. I've always asked that her threads be moved to the Pop forum but mods seem to be against it, so there's no way I'm not voting for her.
