In fourth place, we have the second album of the Berlin trilogy (but the only one of the three to be fully recorded in the then-divided German capital). Only two singles were released, but the title track remains one of his best, and although it originally peaked at a disgracefully low #24 in the UK Singles Chart, this was later amended earlier this year following Bowie's death, where it re-peaked at #12.

In third we have Bowie's fourth album, Hunky Dory, which originally failed to chart upon release but made it into the charts following the release of its successor and is hailed as one of the best albums of all time. It also houses two of his most well-known tracks

Taking the silver medal is my personal favourite, The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars, which was released on June 16th 1972, which is my birthday. Only I wasn't born in 1972. Anyway, it spawned three singles, released two years apart from each other. Ziggy Stardust was never a single, but entered the UK chart at #76 in January 2016 following Bowie's death.

And so your winner is Aladdin Sane! Released in 1973, it was his first number one album, but his last "original" album to involve Mick Ronson until Black Tie White Noise. Its cover includes the famous lightning bolt sign. While it doesn't include any tracks which re-entered the top 100 in January (as opposed to the three other finalists seeing a song in the top 20), as a whole it is the album which solidified David Bowie as someone who was here to stay.

Aladdin Sane has always been my favourite album of his. There are just so many ideas bursting forth and when the weakest track is a great Rolling Stones cover you're on to a winner.
