So, we're just getting over the Melodifestivalen hangover, many of us are coming to the grim acceptance that Sweden will be represented by a gormless 16 year old hopping on the hot acoustic trend in the face of the quality pop they're known for, so time to kick off our own interpretation of this year. Who'll get their careers destroyed in our alternate reality? Who will join Ace Wilder and Dinah Nah in getting the accolade of internet forum adoration? Can we do any better than Sweden?

Anyway, you have me taking on Heat 1. From there we've worked out a schedule of hosting that goes like this:

Heat 2: Ryan (for his sins)

Heat 3: Robot

Heat 4: Jáhq

AC: Lex

Final: AdamAloud

Samir & Victor - Bada Nakna

The proponents last year of the worst word and act the current decade has provided to human culture, the representation for 'heterosexual' lads across Sweden everywhere returned with an ode to something far more acceptable to 80% of Melodifestivalen's audience, getting topless on stage *Rob goes giddy at the thought for the sixtieth time in the last six weeks*. Surprisingly, it's also a rather enjoyable song. Hindered by their inability to sing, it scored nul points with the jury last night - will Buzzjack's jury see it further?

Pernilla Andersson - Mitt Guld

If you remember how this goes without playing it, I don't believe you.

Mimi Werner - Ain't No Good

Perhaps in response to the slow country ballad that came before it, young Mimi here delighted us with a whirlwind folk jam that unfortunately settled for 5th in the real world in the first cull of older past it artists this year had in store for us, but it has another chance for Buzzjack to give it a go, which it might!

Albin och Mattias - Rik

I liked Din Soldat too. In fact I liked it so much that Albin rerecording the track but switching the genders of who he's singing with doesn't really matter at all to me. This ended up being a nondescript AC victim, will it suffer the same fate?

Anna Book - Himmel för två

There's no Moldova in this universe, one of you probably obliterated it from orbit, so Anna Book is allowed to compete here with her very original song about... something, I forgot about it so quickly because of the circumstances, but it's cool. And obviously sets things up for her long-awaited victory next year.

Robin Bengtsson - Constellation Prize

He's pretty (allegedly), he has a very current song, and we thought it could have been the winner but Robin couldn't quite deliver on all the adoration that most newcomers to Melodifestivalen would be strongly envious of. How unfortunate. At least he still has his looks (which nearly every man bar MANS himself is likely envious of)

Ace Wilder - Don't Worry

Young sprightly Ace Wilder managed to get the Swedes to ignore the repentant strumpet lyrics strewn throughout this song and with another performance built on similar legs to 2014's Busy Doing Nothing, which won its round of Buzzfestivalen, won herself all the way to third. With such lofty expectations, can it live up to them?

Vote-friendly list:

Samir & Victor - Bada Nakna

Pernilla Andersson - Mitt Guld

Mimi Werner - Ain't No Good

Albin och Mattias - Rik

Anna Book - Himmel för två

Robin Bengtsson - Constellation Prize

Ace Wilder - Don't Worry

I just realised I didn't put a date for closing in on this. At least no one called me out on it heh.

I'll accept any votes up until I start doing the results, and I'll be doing them on Saturday evening.

Got a nice 13 votes. Could always use a few more, so if you haven't voted and can, do it at some point this afternoon x
In a format like this, I'd be surprised to see any song being 7th for EVERYBODY.

;o

PREDICTING

DTF: Robin/Ace

AC: Mimi/S&V

5th: Anna

6th: Albin/Mattias

7th: Pernilla

In 7th place...

Pernilla Andersson - Mitt Guld (10 points)

http://wiwibloggs.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Pernilla-Andersson-Mitt-guld-Melodifestivalen-2016-2-600x338.jpg

Well, it's credit to Pernilla that she DID avoid a nul pointer, but four people (out of 17 voters total) saw fit enough to not rank her dull ballad the worst song in the heat and as such she's taken ten points from some more deserving songs. We really can unite in hatred of... country, can't we.

In 6th place...

Albin och Mattias - Rik (64 points)

Aww no. Huge improvement on Mitt Guld, but three of the Pernilla pointers gave this their nul and it was only in one person's top 3... mine :D Being a huge ripoff of a popular hit and being *shudder* rap probably didn't help its case but if it wasn't able to gain any major fans here then there was no way it was going through.

How did I miss this :o

Mimi to progress please

Ace Wilder - Don't Worry

Hurray! Ace will be able to defend her title from the safety of the final lineup.

Aw no, I didn't need Rik to progress anywhere but it's better than Anna Book.

And off to AC, we need to send two acts. The first one of these fresh from humiliation in the real thing, is...

pictured here with shirts firmly on; the proportion of no shirt to shirt images on Google is ridiculous.

Some would say ridiculous. Some would say pleasing.

GOING AS PLANNED SO FAR THOUGH, obviously I'd put S&V through but that was never gonna happen.

But before we send the second act to AC, let's see who our second finalist is...

Robin Bengtsson - Constellation Prize

It's just like the real thing! Robin will also get a chance to take the top spot for us.

Which of course means, Anna vs Mimi for a second chance. :o
