Posted April 30, 20169 yr I know its late, but I really want to do this. I'll countdown and commentate on my favourite 75 songs of 2015. Songs like 'When The Bassline Drops', 'All My Friends' and 'Don't' I associate with 2016 even if I first heard them in 2015... I'm excited! First posts soon.
May 5, 20169 yr Author Songs that just missed the cut: Fetty Wap - My Way M.O. - Preach SG Lewis feat. Louis Mattrs - No Less Section Boyz - Trappin' Ain't Dead Kano - Garage Skank Rae Sremmurd - This Could Be Us Drake & Future - Jumpman Silvastone feat. Sneakbo - My Place Trey Songz - Slow Motion Stormzy - WickedSkengMan4 Jidenna feat. Kendrick Lamar - Classic Man Post Malone - White Iverson Miguel - Coffee Big Sean feat. Drake - Blessings The Weeknd - In The Night
May 6, 20169 yr Jidenna feat. Kendrick Lamar - Classic Man Aw, this was a great track :( Hype for the chart :D
May 7, 20169 yr Expecting you to finish this before I even contemplate finishing mine plenty of high quality here, especially going by those omissions. Big losses in 'Preach', 'Jumpman', 'In The Night' and 'Coffee' in particular. :o
June 16, 20169 yr Author Life has got on top of me recently, but I'll be posting within the next week! Any predictions?
June 20, 20169 yr Author Scaled back to a Top 75 to do this justice... 75. Izzy Bizu feat. Kano - White Tiger (Heavytrackerz Remix) Peak Month - December HCENL_zzV-A The original is an advert ready soul track but this Heavytrackerz remix, complete with added Kano, really gives this track some edge. Surprise, but good collaboration. 74. Kaytranada feat. Vic Mensa - Drive Me Crazy Peak month: March zTYhEYiqkI0 Kaytranada has been prolific this year, but this was a sign of things to come back last spring. Spacious and classic sounding beat with some house influence and Vic Mensa produces some wavy bars. 73. Statik Selektah feat. Action Bronson & Joey Bada$$ - Beautiful Life Peak Month: July 2qK0U8AtXrM Sounds so good on a summers day! 90's vibe to this hip hop track and I love Joey Bada$$'s verse. As an aside, Action Bronson must look like the least likely rapper. 72. Tazer feat. Tink - Wet Dollars Peak Month: July m_7o4q5MjTw British DJ Tazer's successful take on classic Biggie track 'Nasty Girl' was a smash in the clubs late 2014. For the commercial release the following summer, the vocals of Tink elevated Wet Dollars to a new level. Shame this never made a chart impact, such a tune! 71. Rudimental feat. Ed Sheeran - Lay It All On Me Peak Month: October WtejRvpwscY Not your typical Rudimental banger, not your typical Ed Sheeran ballad... instead we got this chilled mid-tempo dance song that sat perfectly on the airwaves and made a considerable chart dent. Not something I'd normally expect to love, but there's something infectious about this one.
June 21, 20169 yr Author 70. Snoop Dogg feat. Uncle Charlie Wilson - Peaches N Cream Peak Month: May 1UAIxwYEgm0 Not sure this has a place being released this decade! Laidback collaboration between Snoop Dogg and Pharrell, that may not be up to 'Drop It Like It's Hot' levels, is a very good listen. 69. Blonde feat. Karen Harding - Feel Good (It's Alright) Peak Month: September fJCgm8sNeb0 Perhaps a victim of the newly implemented OA/OS release strategy, this is still another strong house effort from Blonde. Karen Harding has a evokes that evokes the late '90s in this song! 68. Chris Brown - Zero Peak Month: October RSj0mPJsMy0 Another catchy effort from Chris Brown, who is making the first of many appearances here! An ode to an toxic ex, something that only became more precinct for myself this year. I detect an '80s influence throughout and comparisons to 'Want To Want Me' aren't miles off. 67. Raleigh Ritchie - The Greatest Peak Month: April iiqF9KRgyck Underrated track here from fellow Bristolian Raleigh Ritchie. The message of young people believing they can just party away their youth is bang on and a catchy chorus deceptively lodges itself in your brain. 66. Stormzy - Shut Up Peak Month: December RqQGUJK7Na4 The song that defeated the X Factor and turned a generation of young teenagers onto the appeal of Adidas tracksuits. This was the icing on the cake for Grime's huge mainstream resurgence in 2015 and this is a track full of iconic, quotable lines. It's also hilarious!
June 21, 20169 yr Author 65. Kendrick Lamar - Alright Peak Month: August Z-48u_uWMHY This became the soundtrack to the Civil Rights issues in America last summer and was subject to an exceptional Grammy's performance this February. Powerful song, as ever with Kendrick and a great video too. 64. Omarion feat. Chris Brown & Jhene Aiko - Post To Be Peak Month: January aPxVSCfoYnU Big crossover RnBass song that still gets played every club night I end up at. The "booty like groceries" line really caught the attention here. 63. Cadenza feat. Stylo G & Busy Signal - Foundation Peak Month: August oV-qby-Rrqw August is normally awash with dancehall artists releasing contenders for carnival anthems and this really hit the spot last summer! Reminds me of humid afternoons spent in Bristol and Stylo G's drawl sounds so cool. 62. Jason Derulo - Want To Want Me Peak Month: June rClUOdS5Zyw The perfect pop/R&B banger for the summer months last year that spent weeks at No.1. The thing I really like about this one is the fast paced intro which sat well on the radio. 61. Pia Mia feat. Chris Brown & Tyga - Do It Again Peak Month: September cNw8A5pwbVI Firstly, how fit is Pia Mia?! Big song over the late summer/early autumn months complete with solid features from Chris Brown & Tyga and very catchy. Nic Nac produced this and contains more EDM influences than previous productions Loyal and Ayo.
June 28, 20169 yr LOVE Shut Up & Post To Be, 2 major anthems for me last year & ones I still play regularly :music: Feel Good deserved so much better, great track & for me probably their 2nd best after I Loved You. Zero & Want To Want Me both did well on my chart last year too!
July 10, 20169 yr Author 60. Jamie xx feat. Popcaan & Young Thug - I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times) Peak Month: June BjLBB-TMa84 Real lazy summer vibes here from an unexpected source! Young Thug can be very Marmite, but does a stellar job here and now-trendy Popcaan contributes very well too. 59. Dr. Kucho! & Gregor Salto - Can't Stop Playing (Makes Me High) (feat. Ane Brun) [Oliver Heldens Remix] Peak Month: April 8EzfBYFU8Q0 When this first started blowing up, I didn't realise this was a remix of a 2005 song! The type of song I like to call an 'industrial-sized banger' destined to soundtrack raves and fitness classes for years to come. Did very well chart wise too, although I don't think it would have done under the OA/OS climate we have now. 58. MNEK feat. Zara Larsson - Never Forget You Peak Month: November GTyN-DB_v5M Well, this turned out to be a monster didn't it? Not what I expected on first listen, but as subsequent releases have proven this probably sold more of Zara Larsson than MNEK. Slight 2-step garage vibe here, although the comparison to 'Where Are U Now' is perhaps slightly stronger. 57. Calvin Harris & Disciples - How Deep Is Your Love Peak Month: August EgqUJOudrcM Gigi Hadid. That's enough reason to place this so high. I listed it's peak month as August, but this sound tracked the second half of the year for many people, a huge song. A welcome venture into deep house from Calvin Harris and I'm sure this will be one of the defining dance songs of the decade. 56. The Weeknd - Earned It Peak Month: February SpNJzx0ZlGg Feel like this has almost been forgotten about already, despite being one of the biggest sellers of last year. Perhaps that's down to the down tempo R&B sound as opposed to 'Can't Feel My Face'. This is much more in line with The Weeknd's earlier material and I love how sultry the track is. If you're not a fan, this could cone across dull but I love this.
December 5, 20168 yr Author Realised I never finished this. Here's my Top 20 out of interest. 1) WSTRN - In2 2) Fetty Wap - Trap Queen 3) Krept & Konan ft. Jeremih - Freak Of The Week 4) Drake - Hotline Bling 5) The Weeknd - The Hills 6) Tinie Tempah ft. Jess Glynne - Not Letting Go 7) Major Lazer & DJ Snake ft. MO - Lean On 8) Fetty Wap ft. Remy Boyz - 679 9) Lethal Bizzle ft. Diztortion - Fester Skank 10) Nick Brewer ft. Bibi Bourelly - Talk To Me 11) Natalie La Rose ft. Jeremih - Somebody 12) Snakehips ft. Kaleem Taylor - Forever (Pt.II) 13) Disclosure ft. Sam Smith - Omen 14) The Weeknd - Can't Feel My Face 15) Nelly ft. Jeremih - The Fix 16) JME ft. Giggs - Man Don't Care 17) Skepta - Shutdown 18) Stylo G ft. Gyptian - My Number 1 19) Chris Brown & Tyga - Ayo 20) Kendrick Lamar - King Kunta This decade's 2003 I think... so many tunes.
December 6, 20168 yr Hooray at guessing your top 3 (and in order!) I guess it wasn't too difficult there ;) Some great picks in your top 10. Trap Queen, Hotline Bling & The Hills my faves all amazing. Fester Skank is always good fun too. My Number 1 I still play a fair bit now, a mega tune that never transpired into a hit! Great picks.
