It's the Pet Shop Boys...at 2 for a 3rd week! Prince replaces himself on top, sort of, with his fabulous gift to Sheena Easton, one hundred nights without you babe, just won't do. Still love it. So it gets a second week on top of my chart after a gap of 27 years. In the week when rumours about the death of Prince surfaced - and given his recent health and chest problems and religious convictions, I suspected that the reference in Sign O' The Times (up to 3) to a big disease with a skinny name might become a sad reference - he continues to dominate my chart. I Wish U Heaven, Prince.

 

Highest new entry at 6 is Clare Maguire with Elizabeth Taylor. Not featuring the late great Liz, of course, she didn't sing much as far as I know, but it's a great ballad. Clare is just (DJ) Fresh off a hit record (How Love Begins, which went top 10 here) but was sadly uncredited for her vocals, but she's charted before dating back to 2011 and The Shield And The Sword. Gwen Stefani grabs another quick top 10 with her album track (and hopefully future single) Where Would I Be - skatastic. There's another faded entering the top 20 - Kallay Saunders Band - as Above And Beyond do what it says on the label, and shoot up into the 40, as do Lady Antebellum, new with a dance guest vocal for Audien.

 

Fifth Harmony finally get a top 40 hit here, and Paul McCartney's great track from his best album (1974's Band On The Run) is about to get a full release remixed drastically by Timo Maas and James Teej, complete with dance buzz around it. Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five is fab. There are two Eurovision new entries from 2016 joining the Spanish entry from 2015 (Amir, Joe and Jake, and Edurne respectively), as old faves garbage return, Josef Salvat gets a second entry, and 80's classic faves ABC return to their polished class soul sound (sadly minus Trevor Horn, who would have really done the business - as can be seen on Inga Humpe's track higher up). That gives them a sweet 35 years of hits. J-Lo is back after a gap, and there's a debut for Weather Report, and their 1977 jazz classic Birdland. It wasn't eligible for my chart at the time, but my College room-mate in 1977 played their album. So, almost 40 years late, but better late than never, though the song did chart in the early 80's in a vocal version for Manhattan Transfer.

I have a 101 remix on a 3 inch cd i bought of sheena, but yes youre right i almost always like the single versions best :cheer:

 

Amir is tucked away at 81 till i hear it a bit more - i had no idea it was eurovision! Im not surprised i like it tho, france are always different in a good way and they are usuaĺly among my faves :yahoo:

Two songs called 'Faded' nearly back-to-back there :D The one in BJSC was a beaut and should have qualified. Also much love for the Romans track which was also very underrated, such fantastic vocals giving Sam Smith a run for his money. Yay for Lady Antebellum too, weird to hear them on a dance track but it works. Shame they're on hiatus now but some solo material is out there already.

Semi 1 in buzzjack threw out some odd results in DNQ's, and Faded was the biggest pouty moment for me, pah! :lol: Youre also right about the vocals on ROMANS its a great performance. I had no idea Lady Ant had taken a break - hope they come back!

Prince always was one of the greats, shame he had to die for everyone to realise it, though he sabotaged his own career really so cant blame anyone else!
