Robbie's barmaid lover

Sunday, 01 Oct 2006 12:39

He may be one of the world's most well-known and well-paid singers, but Robbie Williams has been romantically involved with a £16,000 a year barmaid for the last 18 months, the Sunday Mirror reveals.

The newspaper says that he met Charlotte Austin, 26, while she was working at the Conrad Hotel, Chelsea, as he looked for sanctuary from a chasing pack of photographers.

Charlotte said she joked with the Angels singer that the baying paparazzi were after a snap of her and not him.

"He laughed and he told me I was a fabulous-looking girl," the New Zealander said.

The barmaid explained that the secret of their success was probably due to the fact that she isn't too fond of Robbie's singing.

She told the Sunday Mirror: "We hit it off right away. I'm not a fan, and I don't like his music at all. And because I took the p*** out of him, I think he felt comfortable with me."

Although Charlotte is under no allusions as to Robbie's playboy love life, she added that it was "empowering" to date a megastar.

"But at other times he's just your mate Rob and you miss him just because you want to spend time with him," she said.

October 2006

EXCLUSIVE: MY LOVER ROBBIE

THE REAL ROBSTER BY THE WOMAN HE'S CLOSEST TO

By Michael Duffy

SHE is a humble barmaid earning £16,000 a year. He is an international rock icon with an £80million record deal.

Yet away from the stage lights and his army of fans, Robbie Williams has been having a secret relationship with Charlotte Austin for the last 18 months.

Charlotte says apart from the sensual intimacy they shared, she also discovered Robbie's soft and sweet side while they cuddled up in his £2million London penthouse sipping tea, sharing jokes and watching trashy TV.

And she tells how they were brought together by the depression that has haunted both their lives.

She said: "It's quite empowering to be involved with him - it's empowering to tell him, 'Sorry, I can't see you tonight, Robbie Williams.' But at other times he's just your mate Rob and you miss him just because you want to spend time with him."

New Zealand-born Charlotte, 26, met the superstar singer last year when she was working in the five-star Conrad Hotel next door to his Chelsea apartment.

She said it was 10 months before they first slept together in his pad :o , with Robbie wooing her by crooning in her ear.

"I told him how much I liked Elton John's song Tiny Dancer and he sang it to me and it was beautiful," she said. :puke2:

"It had been just a normal night hanging out at his place the first time we had sex. Late in the evening we were sitting on the couch and he started to kiss me - it was just like with any other couple - we kissed and things started to get heated.

"Even though it was Robbie Williams, it still isn't like a movie where people are ripping clothes off and I get carried to the bedroom.

"It was all very real, but very lovely - we just walked into the bedroom and proceeded to have serious hanky-panky.

"It wasn't kinky, it was straight-forward, but he is very, very good at what he does - he knows how to treat a woman, and he likes to leave the lights on.

"It was all very sweet and it was the best sex I had ever had - not because it was Robbie Williams, but because he is so unselfish and just so lovely about it all.

"And stamina-wise - he has no problems at all."

She met the 32-year-old superstar, who is currently on a world tour, in May 2005 when Robbie took refuge in her hotel after being pursued by paparazzi.

Charlotte joked that the photographers were there for HER and not for him, and that he should stop being so self-centred. "He laughed and he told me I was a fabulous-looking girl," she said. "We hit it off right away. I'm not a fan, and I don't like his music at all. And because I took the p*** out of him, I think he felt comfortable with me.

"We started chatting every time he came in. He used my name straight away because he could read it from the name-badge on my uniform so I started calling him Rob."

She said the former Take That singer - who became a solo superstar with huge hits including Angels and Rock DJ - would often wander into her hotel alone to sit and drink tea in the evenings and seemed to crave company.

She said: "He went away to LA for a while and when he came back we struck up our friendship properly. He was a real flatterer. He'd always tell me I looked fantastic or fabulous - it was always these really overblown compliments.

"It's a bit empowering - if Robbie Williams tells you you're gorgeous, well it does help to get rid of some of your insecurities. I mean - if he thinks you're beautiful then you have to have something going for you, don't you?"

But it wasn't until March this year that the singer asked for her phone number. "We were just chatting away about the normal stuff - well, my stuff was normal, his was about LA and recording," Charlotte said. "Then he asked me when we were going to start hanging out. He asked for my number and I gave it to him. I know a lot of girls might have been waiting by the phone, but I wasn't - by this stage I knew him quite well.

"I'd been serving him in the bar and joking with him for almost a year so it seemed normal that he might call me. He called the next day and I was asleep. And even though I hadn't been excited before, when he said, 'Hi it's Rob', it was a thrill.

"He asked me when we were going to head out and I told him I was free the following night. Rob rang back to make the arrangements and he asked me to meet him in a South London recording studio.

"I have no idea what he was recording, but it must have been for his new album.

"It was all a bit surreal walking into his studio, saying hi and watching him sing. It was only a small group, there weren't many people there and, while it was fine, it was quite businesslike.

"Then after they'd finished we went back to his flat to drink tea."

Charlotte - who moved to London from New Zealand 18 months ago to work in bars - said she was "blown away" by his luxury apartment. "It's bizarre being in a flat with a television that is worth as much as I'd earn in a year," she said.

"And you should see his shoe collection. It isn't like Imelda Marcos's - there's no way she had that many shoes.

"We watched television in his bed - just rubbish - channel-surfing and hanging out.

It was late and we agreed I should stay.

WE kissed and it was lovely, but there was no suggestion we were going to have sex that first night - we just fell asleep in each other's arms at about 2am.

"And that is when it hit me - when you see him in the flesh with those famous tattoos - that's when you remember that your mate Rob is actually the Robbie Williams all those girls lust after.

"It's a story to tell and I knew what my friends would think, but it wasn't like that - it was like hanging out with a pal."

She said dates with Robbie were "normal to the point of being boring".

"He can't go out in London because he gets mobbed so hanging out with him means being in his apartment," she said. "It's a bit impersonal - like a huge hotel room - because he considers LA his real home.

"And he doesn't drink. So it's tea and food and television. Just so utterly normal and boring. But he is lovely to spend time with and talk to."

Charlotte said she had previously suffered from depression, which was something she spoke about regularly with the troubled star.

She said: "It had been a big deal in my life and he understood what I was talking about. On one occasion I was having trouble reaching orgasm during sex and he told me it was due to the anti-depressant drugs I was on. He said he had some experience with how the drugs could affect your sex life."

But as close as the pair became as she developed into his "London lover", she said there were unwritten rules to being one of his girls.

In recent months Robbie's romps on the road with girls in Sweden and Bratislava have been exposed.

She said: "There's kind of an unspoken arrangement with Robbie. You know he might never call back, you know you're not the only one. He doesn't often call girls back or revisit them. But he did with me for some reason.

"I knew he was with lots of other girls at the same time - he has them all over the world - that's just something you accept.

"But when you're spending time with him and things get physical you start to think it would be nice for it to continue, even though you know it could end at any time. We'd talk about the other girls and how for them it was their big night - something they'd remember forever.

EVERYONE who goes with him wants to be 'The One'. They want to be different or want him to remember them - they want Robbie Williams to fall in love with them.

"We'd quite often talk about that. He knows it's a really big deal for all these girls. Part of him absolutely loves that and part of him is sad about it."

But Charlotte says she never felt hurt - even when he failed to call for weeks after one liaison. She hasn't spoken to him for four weeks and doesn't know whether he'll call again. ( Doubt it after this  )

Charlotte said she had never wanted to speak about the affair and kept it secret but she felt compelled to speak after details of their liaison leaked out.

"I'm just a normal girl and I never wanted to attach myself to his fame," she said. "But once people knew then I started getting some of the media attention he was getting - I just wanted to set the story straight about how lovely he really is.

"From the moment he walked into the hotel we had an immediate rapport.

"But at the same time you could see he's magnetic and has a rapport with everyone.

He's someone you see on television, in magazines and on billboards, then suddenly he's there in front of you and he's just so lovely and charismatic.

"Robbie's a good-looking guy, but that isn't what it's about. He is so engaging and lovely and funny - he's a performer - that's what sets him apart. The majority of his attractiveness isn't his looks - it's his way. I'm not saying he isn't physically attractive, but it's more than that."

Earlier this month Robbie was spotted wandering around the lobby of a luxury golf resort in a seemingly dazed state, sparking fears for his mental health.

But Charlotte said apart from bouts of depression, he is generally happy. She said: "Imagine being in that world, being under scrutiny 24 hours a day and every woman who sleeps with you ends up in a newspaper. Then imagine the bizarre lifestyle of travel, money and fame he has.

"Things are going to be different for him and he knows that, but he feels he has been massacred for any deviation he shows from a normal suburban bloke.

"Deep down he loves his life - he knows it is a bizarre existence, but he loves what he does. I think he will marry one day.

"I just think he's having fun while he is young and will only settle down once his career does."

She actually sounds ok. If it wasn't for the fact she's just blabbed details of her sex life to the Tabloids. Why do they all do this? I just don't get it.

Then again, I suppose we only ever read about those Robbie 'girlfriends' who have blabbed. Maybe there are hundreds out there who haven't.....

ROBBIE'S HEALTH CONCERNING FATHER

ROBBIE WILLIAMS' father is incredibly concerned about his pop star son, claiming the singer is so exhausted he "doesn't know where he is going".

The former TAKE THAT star cancelled the Asian leg of his world tour last month (SEP06) and is reportedly seeking treatment for depression at top London rehabilitation clinic The Priory.

Recalling Williams' behaviour after his recent English gig at the Milton Keynes Bowl, his father PETE CONWAY says, "He was laid out on the couch half an hour before he was due to perform. "He was shattered. He didn't know where he was going the next day or next week. "He is drained in every sense. He is exhausted. He just needs to sleep in his own bed for once. "I worry about him all the time, but I'm happier now he's free of drink or drugs. "It'll be six years in December since he touched either or them."

Thankfully George Michael has the monopoly on c**p stories again today!

Has Mr. Conway really been talking to Vicky ?

I'm being sceptical.

Maybe I just don't want to believe it all (or at least think it's exaggerated), because if you take it seriously it sounds quite worrying to me. I mean I knew Rob was exhausted but is it really that bad... ?

Maybe it was but let's hope the boy is having a good rest and will be on top form when he returns.

Dad's shock at Robbie's exhaustion

The Sun

ROBBIE WILLIAMS’ dad has told of his fears after seeing the singer nearly paralysed by exhaustion.

PETE CONWAY desperately wanted his son to take to bed for a rest — and was thrilled when the star cancelled a leg of his tour to do just that.

Robbie invited his cabaret-singing father to one of his Milton Keynes shows last month and Pete was shocked at his lad’s condition.

He said: “He was laid out on the couch half an hour before he was due to perform.

“He was shattered. He didn’t know where he was going the next day or next week.â€

Pete was amazed Robbie managed to go out on stage to entertain his fans as usual — but said that afterwards his son was “drained in every sense.â€

Just days later Robbie cancelled the Asian dates on his Close Encounters world tour citing exhaustion. He will head home to Los Angeles to spend November resting after his South American gigs this month.

Robbie’s last rest was nine months ago. He then did Soccer Aid and afterwards headed straight out on the road.

He has also had the stress of bringing out new album Rudebox, which is released on October 23.

Pete said: “He is exhausted. He just needs to sleep in his own bed for once.â€

However, his father is comforted by the knowledge that his son’s current condition has nothing to do with his old demons of drugs and alcohol.

Pete said: “I worry about him all the time but I’m happier now he’s free of drink and drugs.

“It’ll be six years in December since he touched either of them. I remember the date — December 15.â€

Rob’s troubles began after he left TAKE THAT in 1995, and only ended when concerned pal SIR ELTON JOHN forced him into rehab.

Pete continued: “I just pray to God his demons never come back.

“I am more proud of him kicking his habits than anything he’s achieved as a pop star — anything.

“I feared for him. I really did. I love him to death.â€

Ah bless. Rob and Pete may have had their ups and downs over the years but at least the star has his good old Dad to look after him now.

BULGARIAN REACHES SECOND PLACE IN MTV’S WORLD CHART EXPRESS

The English version of the song The Happiest Man of Bulgarian performer Vladimir Ampov, better known as Grafa, ranked second in MTV’s World Chart Express.

Robbie Williams’ Rudebox ranked first, being the only song to be positioned higher than Grafa’s track.

The Happiest Man has been present in the chart for two weeks. The song entered World Chart Express at third position on September 16.

This was the eight Bulgarian song in the MTV chart, netinfo.bg said. Gravity Co’s Wings became the first Bulgarian track to feature in World Chart Express on September 19 2004.

World Chart Express ranks the top 10 tracks of international and European singers.

It cracks me up how these women complain about the "other women" going to the press...ummm, kettle? Have you met Pot??

Chris: Robbie's not my friend

By VICTORIA NEWTON

Showbiz Editor

October 03, 2006

HE’S got the biggest mouth on radio and he’s not afraid of having a pop at any celebrities who behave badly when they appear on his show.

So when Chris Moyles sat down to pen his autobiography, The Gospel According To, the man who shares his breakfast-time opinions with eight million listeners didn’t pull any punches.

All the big names are in there – Elton John, Robbie Williams, Rod Stewart and Chris Martin to name just a few.

Baby face ... Chris at 16 months

And when The Sun talked to Chris about his book, out on Thursday, he couldn’t resist giving us the lowdown on who he can, and can’t, stand.

THE big name-star Chris rates the most is Elton John: “I really, really like Elton, I think the guy is brilliant,†he declares.

“He is funny and lovely and charming. I’ve met him three or four times and he’s introduced me to Bernie (writing partner Bernie Taupin) and he’s like this, ‘Have you met Bernie? Bernie! Bernie! Come here. This is Chris. He’s a good lad, we like Chris.’

“And I’m like ‘Elton John’s introducing me to Bernie.’ â€

But there is one celeb who really has got to Chris — Robbie Williams. He and Robbie have known each other for a few years and Chris used to think they were pretty good mates.

He has been to stay at Robbie’s house in LA and they used to have regular chats on the phone. But last time Robbie turned up to go on the Breakfast Show, he simply offered Chris his hand to shake.

Chris explains: “I was expecting a big hug — I thought we were quite pally. It was strange. I find it frustrating that I can’t get past a certain level.

On Chris Martin

"He's very clean living and healthy but sometimes he's so wired and giddy you'd think he was Pete Doherty's flatmate"

“I’m certainly not friends with the guy but I think I’ve known him long enough that I think it should be ‘Hi mate’ rather than just ‘hello.’

“He’s got a lot of issues, he’s fairly guarded and I can understand that but it might be nice if you were let in a little bit more.

“I thought we were mates and now we’re just pals.

“It goes friends, mates, pals for me and I think it’s a bit pathetic to admit it but I want to be friends with Robbie Williams and because he’s not my friend, I’m upset.â€

While Elton impresses, Chris can’t say the same for others — Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts, for example.

“I don’t hate the girl,†he says: “I don’t know her. But she never smiles, she is a miserable cow.

On Elton John

"I really, really like Elton. I think the guy is brilliant. I've met him three or four times and he's funny, lovely and charming"

“The others really play the game — well, Nadine gets a little bit flaky sometimes. I think I’m just turning into a dirty old man.

“I wanna be friends with Girls Aloud, or maybe just Sarah and Kimberley.â€

Another one who gets the Moyles’ “miserable†blast is legendary rocker Rod Stewart. “I’ve met him once and he was a miserable b*****d.

“I got introduced to him and he was massively uninterested ’cos he was talking to someone else.â€

One thing I have always liked about Chris is that he isn’t too easily impressed by fame. He shuns celebrity haunts such as The Ivy (he’s only been once) and he would rather hang out in his local with his mates than go to a posh party or film premiere.

In fact, he explains, it is his mum Vera, 65, who is celebrity obsessed.

Ant and Dec nicknamed her “VIP Vera†as she manages to wangle her way into the biggest showbiz events and has her picture taken with all the stars. Chris jokes: “She met Dave Grohl (ex-Nirvana, now with the Foo Fighters) the other day which is just wrong — I haven’t even met him yet!

“And she gets on really well with Noel Gallagher.â€

Chris, who lives in a trendy part of North London, has many celebrity neighbours.

Chris Martin is one but the Leeds-born loudmouth admits he often can’t make out what the Coldplay star is really like — because he’s quite mad.

He explains: “He came into our studio one morning and he just seemed wired — it’s the only word I can think of which won’t get me into trouble.

“He just seemed out of it, not out of it as in wasted, but just really, really giddy and surreal and a little bit, I suppose, bonkers.

“He’s very clean living and very healthy but sometimes you’d think he was Pete Doherty’s flatmate.â€

Chris regularly talks about girlfriend Sophie on air but it’s rare to see pictures of them out together.

They don’t live together — although Sophie spends five out of seven nights at his flat.

On Girls Aloud

"I wanna be friends with Girls Aloud, or maybe just Sarah and Kimberley. Nicola never smiles. She's a miserable cow"

It is an arrangement the DJ is very happy with at the moment.

He explains: “We’re not officially living together and that’s fine by me.

“I kind of like my space. I don’t want her to dump me but I’m very happy with things the way they are.

“I like it sometimes when she doesn’t stay because I can go to the pub or talk to my radio mates or sit and play on my Xbox.â€

On his mum, Vera

"She met Dave Grohl the other day, which is just wrong. I haven't even met him yet! And she gets on really well with Noel Gallagher"

Chris opened up his family album to reveal his most intimate snaps from his childhood.

The son of a postman, he and brother Keiron, attended a traditional Roman Catholic school.

His mum and dad scraped together every penny to help their son pursue his dream of a career in radio.

He says of them today: “I honestly don’t know what I’d do without them.â€

Chris had a happy childhood and generally enjoyed his time at school — despite the odd scary nun.

He managed to stay out of trouble and rarely caused his parents any problems. I asked him if he ever took drugs and he confessed that he once tried a spliff but packed it in because it made him ill.

Chris explained: “I realised that it doesn’t mix with beer and very quickly stopped. I think I chose rightly, beer over gear.

“I’ve never tried cocaine . . . ever. Not interested in the slightest.

“I’m a little bit naive when it comes to drugs and they scare me a little bit and I’ve met too many people that were ****holes when they were on cocaine.â€

He’s proud of the fact that he’s not ended up with a raging alcohol problem either — given the hours that he works.

Chris gets up at 5.30am to do his breakfast show and his work at Radio 1 is all over by noon.

He says: “I’ve got nothing to do for the rest of the day then.

“It would be easy to sit in the pub all day and become alcoholic. Thats why I play my Xbox!â€

The Gospel According To Chris Moyles: The Story Of A Man And His Mouth, published by Ebury Press, is out on Thursday priced £16.99.

Robbie is back in the swing

October 03, 2006

IT’S good to see ROBBIE WILLIAMS smiling again – and that’s even after making a bad golf shot.

These are the first pictures of the star since exhaustion forced him to cancel the Asian leg of his Close Encounters tour.

The singer fled to his Los Angeles home to rest and it’s near there that he was snapped playing golf with best pal JONATHAN WILKES.

Robbie recently told me he’d given up golf to concentrate on playing football every day instead.

But now I hear he’s set himself the challenge of playing in ANT & DEC’s TV golf tournament next year – so he’s getting in some practice.

He told me: “I can still kick their a***s on the golf course.â€

Robbie Williams: the first to fly Virgin Galactic?

Rocket mogul: Billionaire Brit Sir Richard Branson has unveiled the first Virgin "spaceship," a six-passenger shuttle designed for suborbital space flight. Tickets are $190,000, there's no first class, and don't even think about cocktail service.

So, who gets to go first? According to BornRich, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, of course: "Apparently, the couple has has already paid £115,000 each to ensure they have a seat on the jet. The couple will be accompanied by the superstar Robbie Williams and William Shatner."
