17. Justin Bieber - Sorry

Peak: #8 (#1 in 2015)

Weeks on Chart: 12

One of the biggest tracks of last year of course had some spillover into 2016 on my chart. Definitely my favourite track of his as lead artist & still in the top 40 to this day, it would have been even higher if including its first 4 weeks on the chart.

16. Lost Kings (feat. Jessame) - Bad

Peak: #5

Weeks on Chart: 11

The superior Lost Kings track appears all the way up at #16. This is unbelievably catchy all the way through, the funky production, the slick vocals, it spent much of its run within the top 10.

I have to give Leonardo full credit for this one (if he ever reads this :P) as I highly doubt I'd have ever come across it otherwise. Not normally my cup of tea this genre but something about this song & it's singalong chorus clicked beautifully. Spending quarter of a year in my top 40 is no mean feat!

14. Justin Bieber - Love Yourself

It's that man again with another #1 single, both officially & on here. For a brief spell I was loving this even more than Sorry, a rare occurrence for a ballad! A brilliant album overall this, about 5-6 songs from it are somewhere in my top 100 as it stands.

So this guy is without a doubt one of the best in his game right now, having really yet to put a foot wrong. Scored a #1 last year with 'All My Love' & came close with this effort too (half of its chart run was spent at #3!) Anthemic & beautifully produced, I could so easily listen to a whole album of his music.

12. Sigma & Rita Ora - Coming Home

Peak: #1

Weeks on Chart: 11

Sigma are very much a hit & miss band for me, their formula is quite repetitive but when they get the right vocalist on the right track it can be magical. This is such a case of that, the slow verses building up to the explosive chorus. They still have another song to appear in this countdown, could it go all the way?

11. LVNDSCAPE & Holland Park (feat. Nico Santos) - Waterfalls

Peak: #8

A diamond, it really is. A song so easy on the ears it's almost hypnotic. Just missing out on the top 10 is this beauty, the perfect song to play on a warm summer evening. I'm keeping a close eye on all three parties as I'm sure something as good as this can't be just a fluke.

So that leaves us at the top 10 which I'll work through tomorrow & consists of:

Craig David & Big Narstie - When The Bassline Drops

Imany - Don't Be So Shy (Filatov & Karas Remix)

Jonas Blue (feat. Dakota) - Fast Car

Kygo (feat. Maty Noyes) - Stay

Mahmut Orhan (feat. Sena Sener) - Feel

Norde - Every Single Night

Rihanna (feat. Drake) - Work

Sigala (feat. Imany & DJ Fresh) - Say You Do

Sigma - Stay

The Chainsmokers (feat. ROZES) - Roses

10. Sigma - Stay

Peak: #4

Weeks on Chart: 16

The first of 2 songs called 'Stay' in the top 10 this was Sigma's huge flop single although to be fair it was right at the end of their album campaign. Either way a massive injustice as this is an incredible song. That vocalist needs to do some more features pronto!

Her best song in YEARS. An absolute earworm with a killer hook, the type of track she sounds so good on. Needless to say I love Drake's verse as well so it's killer all the way through. Still in the chart this week!

This song & Work seem to be stuck together in the official chart & they are here too! As a big fan of the Tracy Chapman original this was obviously going to go either way, thankfully I absolutely loved it. Those glorious synths very synonymous of the current trend, it's no real surprise it took off & I'm happily in the minority on here that were glad it did :) Was the first #1 on my chart this year.

7. Kygo (feat. Maty Noyes) - Stay

Peak: #5

Weeks on Chart: 14

Staying with the tropical house it's the 2nd 'Stay' this time from Kygo. His sound was very refreshing to hear breakthrough last year with the likes of 'Firestone' & 'Stole The Show' but I have to say this has taken the mantle of my favourite Kygo track now. Credit to the vocalist too who helps elevate it above his other works.

So yeah, don't know a great deal about this guy but my word has he set himself a hard task to top this gem. I love the deep, husky vocals especially but a lot of praise goes to the production too - really feels like a journey this song! One of the best videos I've seen this year as well.

5. Craig David & Big Narstie - When The Bassline Drops

The comeback we were all craving for. This for me is actually his best ever song as lead artist (only Rewind tops it for overall songs). Bringing back that garage sound I loved in his early days yet still sounding really fresh, this is a piece of genius!

4. Mahmut Orhan (feat. Sena Sener) - Feel

Oh how I wish songs like this were massive here (although part of me likes the fact they're unknown gems to the masses here). This ticks just about every box I like in a house song these days: strings, sax, a glorious vocal & to top it all off a video with a very attractive model. The icing on the cake was earning a bronze medal in BJSC, I'm glad there were many other fans :D

3. Imany - Don't Be So Shy (Filatov & Karas Remix)

Peak: #2

Weeks on Chart: 20

On the subject of songs which should have smashed here, this one was even pushed! Originally an acoustic number this song got the ultimate deep house remix turning it into something quite sublime. How those vocals suit the song so well too, still waiting for an official video but I'm happy to make do with this one :) This was our big breakthrough BJSC hit!

So we are down to the final 2 of Roses Vs. Say You Do!

2. The Chainsmokers (feat. ROZES) - Roses

Peak: #2

Weeks on Chart: 19

Runners-up at the halfway stage are The Chainsmokers. This song was the ultimate grower after not getting into it properly a full 6 months after its release, however it certainly made up for lost time. A really unique track, I love all the different layers to it & it has the most key aspect for any track, that replayability factor! It was kept off #1 once by Jonas Blue & once by the top track yet manages to outscore all bar one to this point.

1. Sigala (feat. Imani & DJ Fresh) - Say You Do

Peak: #1

Weeks on Chart: 18*

This really comes as no surprise to anyone who follow my weekly charts, becoming the first song to spend 8 weeks at #1 & generally blowing away everything in its path. What can I say? It's a perfect song, something which doesn't come around all too often! Drum & bass, a brilliant Mariah sample, catchy as hell & steel drums, it's got the lot & much more. All I'll say is it'll take something truly special to oust it from the top spot of the podium :gold2:
