With the recent TOTP repeats having recently switched theme tune to Yellow Pearl, I thought it might be fun to have a poll on BJ to find the most popular theme of the programme.

I think I've included most of the well known ones. There were some other pieces of instrumental music by unknown artists used early on but I'm sure they wouldn't figure. There were also some gaps where there were no intro tunes, just the DJs popping up saying "It's Still Number One..." etc.

I went for the one I was most familiar with growing up, the re-recorded version of Whole Lotta Love from 1998 onwards. The Wizard would be second. I have no idea why the Christmas TOTP still insist on using the terrible "Now Get Out Of That" each year as its theme rather than WLL, which is more closely associated with the program.

Judging by the lack of votes no one knows ny of them! :(

I did think of adding video links, but couldn't be bothered :D

Went with Yellow Pearl, but The Wizard is a very close second.

Now Get Out Of That is the worst. God knows why they brought that one back in the '00s

Yellow Pearl is one I'm enjoying on the BBC 4 series at present!

Yellow Pearl definitely my favourite from my very early TOTP watching days, although The Wizard was more my era in general.
  • 2 weeks later...

My favourite has to be Whole Lotta Love - the instrumental version by CCS which peaked at #13 in late 1970.

CCS featured the late Alexis Korner

I did think of adding video links, but couldn't be bothered :D

Booo :(

Almost a toss of a coin between CCS and Lynott but earliest memory association may have tipped the balance to CCS.

Can't even recall any after The Wizard
