Named after a casino in their hometown of Las Vegas, 'Sam's Town' marks the mighty return of the chart-topping synth-rockers The Killers. Having conquered the charts the world over with their debut 'Hot Fuss', the band have given us a taster of their eagerly anticipated follow up with the first single, 'When You Were Young', which draws influences from Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, amongst others, for a more American sounding sophomore album. - HMV

Track Listing

1. Sam's Town

2. Enterlude

3. When You Were Young

4. Bling (Confession Of A King)

5. For Reasons Unknown

6. Read My Mind

7. Uncle Jonny

8. Bones

9. My List

10. This River Is Wild

11. Why Do I Keep Counting

12. Exitlude

Bonus Track: 13. Where The White Boys Dance

Near the end of my first listen and it looks like it's a grower.. Read My Mind is good though :D

Got it after uni today, haven't had a chance to listen to it yet either, but I've heard Read My Mind and really like it too :D
I've listened to whole album! Standouts for me are When You Were Young, Read My Mind and Bones
You see i've heard both Bones and Read My Mind on the radio and I thought they were a bit c**p TBH. :(
I've gotta admit i'm about 2/3's of the way through the album and its a bit of a dissapointment. :( I hope it'll grow on me but i'll see. Some of the tracks just seem a bit over the top for my liking. :( But i' listening to This River Is Wild at the moment and i'm really liking it. ^_^
Personally I was disappointed. I found it all too protencious and well uninteresting. Here's a prime example of trying too hard...
The most overhyped band since the Scissor Sisters a few weeks back. All over the BBC, Channel 4 and MTV like a rash. Hype clearly sells though - what poor fools.

I spent a fair amount of my lunch hour listening to the album in Virgin today.

As a result I have not spent £10 on buying Sam's Town.

I've got to say they sound like they are trying to be Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, so they are "going for the yankee dollar"; therefore I expect their popularity to fade in the UK, as they used to sound like early Duran Duran.

Well i've listened to the full album now and yeah my general feeling around the album is that they've tried too hard on certain tracks. There are a couple of really good tracks but IMO there are also a couple of poor ones but i've only listened to the album once so it will probably grow on me like Hot Fuss did. ^_^

Downloaded Read My Mind which is what a few of you mentioned as one of the best tracks

I'm not impressed tbh, it's like a diet Killers song, and a shame when I thought WYWY was fabness and the right way to have a comeback song

The quality hasn't been matched -_-

I got it after uni yesterday, in the damn rain , but it takes many a listen to get into it.

Highlights have to be When You were Young, Bones, (the gorgeus) Read My Mind, Bling and Why do i Keep Counting

Some tracks are disappointing but it is an album that needs to be listened to and judged on more then a few listens and then it may not seem to disappointing :D

I bought it yesterday! and so far I have only listend to it in my car. will give it a proper spin later today. But first impressions are really good. Love the opening track "Sams town" and the interlude to "when yo uwere young" some bouncy anthemic sounding stuff but to but overall its pretty samey with the first album in sound. will give the cd a good spin later today!

...Sigh... I suppose there's always gotta be one mug who likes the album. And that mug would be me. Bought it after university yesterday, and i've listened to it a couple of times now. I agree that WYWY, Bones and Read My Mind are highlights. I'd give this an album a 7 atm, but it's early days yet

I love this album. Heard it about 5-6 times and love every track :D :D :D

Everyone slating it should give it more listens and stop comparing it to Hot Fuss, they're 2 different albums!!

Yeah, that's a good point. You know everybody would've complained if this album had sounded exactly the same as the last! The Killers can't seem to win!
