Posted July 2, 20169 yr Hi Guys I've been working on this for a few years now, so I hope you enjoy it and find it interesting. Over the next few months I will be counting down the most successful singles / albums in UK chart history. I've have went through each chart since the charts first began and allocated a point system, number 1 = 100 points and number 100 = 1, pretty simple really. I'm pretty sure there will be errors especially regarding re-entries, re-releases and remixes but we shall see how it goes. All interaction is appreciated also, what's your opinion on certain songs ? higher than you expected ? lower ? I have countdowns for the - Top 500 Singles Top 500 Albums Top 500 USA Singles UK Singles (If anyone know how to make this look smarter i.e the columns that would be appreciated) Pos Act Song Points 401 David Guetta Sexy Chick 2030 402 Rihanna Fourtyfive Seconds 2030 403 Olly Murs Dear Darlin 2029 404 Tinchy Stryder Number 1 2028 405 Foster the people Pumped for kicks 2026 406 Train Drive By 2023 407 Let Loose Crazy for you 2021 408 Beyonce Irreplaceable 2020 409 Alphabeat Fascination 2019 410 Alicia Keys No One 2015 411 Eliza Dolittle Pack Up 2012 412 Rihanna Whats my name 2010 413 Billy Fury Halfway to paradise 2008 414 Arctic Monkeys I bet you look good on the dancefloor 2007 415 Kylie Minogue Cant get you out of my head 2007 416 Eddie Calvert Cherry pink and apple blossom 2007 417 Rihanna Stay 2006 418 Bruno Mars Lazy Song 2005 419 Peters and Lee Welcome Home 2005 420 Chris Brown Loyal 2002 421 Lana del rey Video Games 2002 422 Mike Posner I took a pill in Ibiza 1999 423 Calvin Harris Outside 1998 424 50 Cent In da club 1997 425 Daniel Merriweather Red 1995 426 Timbaland Give it to me 1994 427 Don Cornell Hold my hand 1993 428 Saturdays Up 1992 429 Labrinth Beneath your beautiful 1992 430 Paolo Nutuni Last Request 1989 431 Atomic Kitten Whole Again 1989 432 Rudimental Lay It All On Me 1988 433 Pat Boone April Love 1983 434 Olly Murs Heart skips a beat 1979 435 Jason Derulo Ridin Solo 1978 436 Pat Boone Love letters in the sand 1973 437 David Guetta Turn me on 1971 438 Las Ketchup Katchup Song 1970 439 Everly Brothers All I have to do is dream 1970 440 Village People YMCA 1979 441 Helen Shapiro You don’t know 1967 442 Bruno Mars Marry You 1966 443 Buddy Holly It doesn’t matter anymore 1965 444 JLS Beat Again 1964 445 One Direction History 1962 446 Dizzee Rascal Bonkers 1960 447 Rizzle Kicks Down with the trumpets 1955 448 Baha Men Who let the dogs out 1952 449 Tom Jones Help Myself 1951 450 Savage Garden Truly Madly Deeply 1949 451 Jimmy Young Unchained Melody 1948 452 Frankie Laine A woman in love 1946 453 Kenny Rogers Don’t take your love to town 1943 454 Julie Rodgers Wedding 1938 455 Dean Martin Return to me 1935 456 Tinie Tempah Written in the stars 1932 457 Aqua Barbie Girl 1930 458 Del Shannon Runaway 1923 459 Route 94 My Love 1919 460 Tom Jones Green green grass of home 1916 461 D:Ream Things can only get better 1915 462 Roy Orbison In dreams 1910 463 Sia Cheep Thrills 1909 464 Gerry & the pacemakers Youll never walk alone 1907 465 Martin Solveig Hello 1902 466 Glee Don’t stop believin 1901 467 Beatles I want to hold your hand 1899 468 Maroon 5 Payphone 1897 469 Spice Girls Wannabe 1897 470 Dean Martin Gentle on my mind 1893 471 Wombles Wombling Song 1892 472 Chris Brown Ayo 1885 473 Mark Morrison Return of the mack 1885 474 Kay Starr Rock and roll waltz 1882 475 Bluebells Young at heart 1881 476 Outkast Hey Ya 1880 477 Sigma Changing 1879 478 David Whitfield Everywhere 1875 479 Shirley Bassey For all we know 1874 480 Seekers Ill never find another you 1874 481 Akon Right Now 1873 482 Akon Beautiful 1869 483 Katy Perry California Girls 1868 484 Bruno Mars Billionaire 1868 485 Snakeships All my friends 1866 486 Olly Murs Troublemaker 1864 487 Sinitta So Macho 1864 488 Boyz II men End of the road 1864 489 Taylor Swift Black Space 1862 490 Leona Lewis Run 1861 491 Platters Smoke gets in your eyes 1860 492 Madonna Crazy for you 1857 493 Naughty Boy Runnin 1855 494 One Direction Drag me down 1852 495 David Guetta Play Hard 1849 496 Ellie Goulding Your Song 1846 497 Calvin Harris I need your love 1845 498 Pat Boone Friendly Persuassion 1843 499 Lorde Royals 1839 500 Coldplay Hymn for the weekend 1775 Edited September 1, 20168 yr by Dannyboy

July 2, 20169 yr Author THAT IS AWESOME. I go on about there not being enough big threads in the forum and BAM. HYPE yeah, mega hyped for this, going to be very exciting! :D Thanks guys, I love this site but sometimes there seems to be lots of polls and rates which is great because people interact but I like to see lots of facts and figures, hopefully these threads will see a lot of interaction also.
July 2, 20169 yr Wow that sounds like an almighty task you've taken on there! Really excited for this countdown though :D
July 2, 20169 yr Yes go ahead with this. You've definitely given an almighty task in doing this. I'm very intrigued by this.
July 2, 20169 yr Author Number 500 - Lorde - Royals LFasFq4GJYM Peak - 1 Points - 1839 Weeks in the top 10 - 4 weeks Weeks in the top 100 - 34 weeks Personal Option If I'm honest I didn't really get this song and to be honest I still don't, its ok, I don't hate it but I'm generally surprised it only had 4 weeks in the top 10, for some reason it felt like it was around for ages. What your opinion personal opinion on this song or its position in the countdown ? Edited July 2, 20169 yr by Dannyboy
July 2, 20169 yr Royals  Also shocked it only had 4 weeks in the top 10! (I'm presuming this is UK Singles first?)
July 2, 20169 yr Oh I thought Royals spent longer in the top 10 too! I'm not massive on it myself, pretty much her entire album is better imo.
July 2, 20169 yr Author Royals  Also shocked it only had 4 weeks in the top 10! (I'm presuming this is UK Singles first?) Oh yeah UK Singles, it would help if I said that at the start ha ha
July 2, 20169 yr I never really got Royals either. I didn't like her voice and I didn't like the song. Also - this is quite an undertaking. I will try and comment on as many as possible. Edited July 2, 20169 yr by Colm
July 2, 20169 yr Author Is this best selling or best rated by Buzzjack users? No this is nothing to do with sales or ratings, this is purely on a point system based on chart performance I never really got Royals either. I didn't like her voice and I didn't like the song. Also - this is quite an undertaking. I will try and comment on as many as possible. I hope you enjoy it
July 2, 20169 yr Author Number 499 - Pat Boone - Friendly Persuasions D0VTnNfH_gA Peak - 3 Points - 1843 Weeks in the top 10 - 10 weeks Weeks in the top 100 - 21 weeks Personal Option I have never heard this before but it seems harmless enough, its the kind of song I’m sure my grandparents would have loved. It was number 3 for 3 weeks, It was behind Guy Mitchell and Frankie Vaughan for all 3 weeks. What your opinion personal opinion on this song or its position in the countdown ?
July 2, 20169 yr This looks really exciting!!! 'Royals' is fairly good, I forgot just how long a chart run it had actually (spent 17 weeks top 40) but it did feel very big at the time. Strange that nothing she's done since has made much of a chart impact as she had so much hype around her for a few months. Lol at random 50s songs coming in already. Looking forward to how well Frankie Laine 'I Believe' does (with its eighteen weeks at #1). I also remember 'Rock Around The Clock' having a massive chart run too.
July 2, 20169 yr Yasss Pat. Actually this should be really interesting as I'm pretty sure there are going to be tons of songs I've never listened to in here from before the mid 1970s at least, where my music knowledge gets very patchy. I adore Lorde and Royals in general, it really stood out for me and I generally love the 'click' beat. I'd comfortably put it in my all time top 100 actually.

Yeah I agree I love the randomness of this countdown when all the 50s, 60s and 70s songs are mixed in with up to date songs.
July 2, 20169 yr Author Number 498 - Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding - I need your love AtKZKl7Bgu0 Peak - 4 Points - 1845 Weeks in the top 10 - 4 weeks Weeks in the top 100 - 29 weeks Personal Option Not my favourite Calvin Harris song, I just cant get with Ellie Goulding and her voice, it just irritates me, the video is super cute though but why couldn't we have more Calvin with his top off ha ha What your opinion personal opinion on this song or its position in the countdown ?
