July 10, 20169 yr I do find it all a bit too harsh now but I guess it's lose lose for the mods because we all used to think it was too relaxed  we need a happy medium because it's getting to the point where songs that would be discoveries for literally 99% of the people are being thrown out because they're top 75 in Afghanistan or something and it's preventing a lot of good music being discovered (which is the point of the contest at the end of the day and we can't lose sight of that!) Gosh I do not envy the mods' job ~ They are making it harder on themselves by being so nit picky and power hungry tbh  there IS a happy medium to be had, they just need to not be so strict and OTT when it comes to things like "this song was briefly mentioned on a housewives blog about what she listens to when she does the hoovering " and "this song went to #45 in Outer Mongolia so it should be a veto".
July 10, 20169 yr was anyone entering this competition actually alive in the 60s? were most competitors’ parents even born then? Irrelevant in this case. The Stevie Wonder song is very recognisible, I know it and I was born in the 90s. (And don't go forgetting popchartfreak :funky:)
July 10, 20169 yr spinnin' and ministry of sound are labels not blogs  ~ josepvinaixa is basically a release schedule as it seems to cover what's out not what's necessarily hot or popular~ was anyone entering this competition actually alive in the 60s? were most competitors’ parents even born then? the whole blanket red flag for an artist or song charting in the top40 pre-2000 is a ludicrous use of sledgehammer to crack a peanut of 'jolene' being entered a few years back! I'll just cover these points. A 'blog' for high blog exposure purposes doesn't need to be a literal blog, but more a place where we know people find entries, I can't speak for Ministry of Sound but I think I'm right in saying a lot of entries are sourced from Spinnin' Records. A song can appear on one or two of these places and we won't bat an eyelid as long as it's not one of the trifecta, but if one song appears on many of these places, then that'll contribute because the likelihood is many of the participants will have heard it in the search. And the rule has been very useful to crack down on songs that people might not know the name of but will recognise it through popcultural osmosis easily + what Jahq said in this case. No, the framework isn't perfect and when there's an update there's a couple of things that could be loosened but generally 80-90% of participants get past the veto every month no problem.

(And don't go forgetting popchartfreak :funky:) quite pertinent, actually, since one size doesn't fit all~ yes, i know there are a few, but i was trying to be tactful by not inserting a except xyz clause~ :P the veto framework seems to have lost touch with the demographics of the people entering the competition; in terms of childhood nostalgia the 00’s is the sweet spot, so a blanket red flag for top40 artists and songs pre-2000 seems to miss the mark somewhat~
July 10, 20169 yr Well since there is still one to be revealed according to Michael, it could potebtially
