There is, of course, a downside to sending a song you genuinely LOVE and it doing badly too though. Thinking back to my sending For My Sins a few months ago, I was really irked when it DNQ'd, even if a few people really liked it.
If I dnq this month with a song which I'd rank as one of my top 10 favourite songs of all time, I genuinely would cry :(

I think in terms of the "send what you love" mantra, I've gotten my best results with the songs I love the most (with the exception of "You Settle Me" - vote for it in Rejects!). I remember sending "Bring Back The Summer" on a whim after getting vetoed and I didn't even think I would qualify, but it was one of my favorite new songs at the moment and the first thing I thought of, so I just went with it. I ended up getting my best result this year. I also think that sending stuff for success is the reason why I haven't done well the past few months.

I think if you're really passionate about your selections, the love you feel for them will seep through and echo in everyone else.

Oh yeah, it stings quite badly, especially when an all-time favourite is greeted with a tumbleweed reaction by the masses.

Still not over Spin My World-gate, I listen to it multiple times weekly still. Have since learnt to suck it up more though, after DNQ'ing became more of a common thing for me

Yeah I keep changing my mind on whether I'd rather DNQ with a song I don't like so much and therefore wouldn't mind dnqing as much, or dnqing with a song I love because then I know I put more effort into it or whatever but with that I always try to be careful about getting hopes up etc. (Especially with my luck :') )

yeah most of my recent entries have been songs i've loved and have ended up doing well. i think girli is the hugest example here, i sent her because i am OBSESSED ((omg new girli song #promo
)), didn't expect to even Q, but got 5th slay

Yeah I was lucky a few people liked Feeling Electric - I would have been really miffed if it had DNQed because at the time (and still !!) I was so invested in the song and in love with it.

I always think it's key to have an entry you love because it really makes it a better experience for everyone - there's nothing better than being able to get behind something you're passionate about rather than something you have no specific liking for.

I always think, and it's the same with anything really, if you can't get behind it yourself then you can't expect other people to either.

Oh I have been so irked in the past, with Stamp!, with Sonsick, with Megitsune  But with this one I'm mentally preparing myself (to not go on an unseemly rant) in case the worst happens, and if it qualifies, I'll be overjoyed. And when it comes down to it the dangers of losing a great entry to a tough semi are worth the risk that it will do well, better than not caring what happens to it.
I echo the "send what you love" comments. I've had my most successes with my faves (Animals, K3, All Night Long, Bonbon) i thought half of those would dnq, but went with them anyway

Well it worked with Teens React!
I've always sent the songs I have loved maybe some did go off me see easily Them Swoops for exmaple but I have always loved them enough to send them.

That reminds me of what I meant to add to my posty:

If you send a song you don't really love, but send it because bit sounds like a song you think the buzzjack crowd can get behind, and it does well, then yay, you've just bagged urself a hit. But it wouldn't really feel as good as sending a song you love and doing well with it too. There's also the idea of getting the nice surprise feeling of doing well with it also.

Yeah I feel as though some people send songs they think people will love but don't love themselves. obviously it's their choice but I wouldn't do that

The sweet spot is finding something you think will do well AND something you love, it's always such a good feeling so find that perfect entry even though when I thought I'd hit the jackpot with Topic it came last

There have been a couple I've sent in the past that did really badly that I really loved, perhaps Moya being the biggest example of this. I've never been so gutted for an entry of mine doing so awful.

Is YouTube views something you look at when discussing potential vetos?

And if the not too much trouble, can I have some feedback on Arigato? Just wondering what your views were regarding the fact most of Buzzjack probably hadn't heard it (it's been mentioned in two threads, this one being one of them).

Of my few favourite entries of mine ever (Mirage, You Don't Own Me, Pedestrian At Best, What I Live For, Billy The Kid and All Of The Pieces), all of those went top 10 except for All Of The Pieces! With AOTP I think I had to accept that I was the only one who stanned Reigan for 2 months to a ridiculous degree watching her on X Factor Australia so everyone didn't have the emotional connction I did, but with the others I just sent them because I loved them, and I didn't know what to expect for half of them and with PAB I really did expect it to DNQ yet i came 3rd with the joint 18 record  Since about then I've had more faith in my own heart and what I want to send, because I know that it works out sometimes, other times it doesn't. If they did DNQ I'd just get over it

(most of those are also Australian, my obsession for flop Australian helps)
