Top 50 Chart Commentary

Kungs and Cookin' On 3 Burners match the record for 2016 of most weeks spent at #1 as 'This Girl' effortlessly gets a sixth week at number one. Strong competition next week may come from Major Lazer and Justin Bieber but it seems likely that Kungs will keep the #1 at the moment.

For the third week in a row, the top four remains as exactly the same songs in the same order, with Calvin at #2, Croatia Squad at #3 and Alan Walker at #4. Era Istrefi completes the top 5, getting a new peak 22 weeks into its chart run - very impressive.

New to the top ten this week are Christine and the Queens at #10 with 'Tilted'. Entering the top 20 are Jonas Blue ('Perfect Strangers' at #18 to give him his 2nd top 20 hit) and MØ ('Final Song' climbing one place to #20).

Climbing into the top 40 for the first time this week are Tobtok ('Aber' up to #32), Kungs ('Don't You Know' at #38) and Bastille ('Good Grief' at #39). In addition to those we have Illenium who scores his second chart hit following 'Spirals' with 'Fortress', entering the top 50 at #33, and a more familiar face Tiësto whose 'Summer Nights' finally makes the main chart, climbing twelve places to #40.

Other main chart entries come from The Veronicas who make their comeback with 'In My Blood' (#41), Ryos' progressive house tune 'Where We Are' (#42), Anne-Marie's 'Alarm' (#44) and Justice's comeback 'Safe and Sound' (#45). Justice are also the highest new entry in the overall chart.

Me too regarding Kungs, but I guess beggars can't be choosers and I've been very much FOR having streaming in the charts..

 

It's great seeing Final Song and Alarm become hits, just goes to show that even in the current climate songs by unknowns and rising stars can become hits.
