Posted October 3, 200618 yr U2 get their hits out Virgin.net U2 have announced plans for a new greatest hits compilation, which is set to be released before Christmas. The Irish band have confirmed on their official website that a 16-track 'Best Of' compilation will hit the shops on November 20. The album will include their new single - a cover of 'The Saints Are Coming' by The Skids - which they recently recorded with Green Day to raise money for musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina. The album will also feature a brand new song recorded with producer Rick Rubin at London's Abbey Road last month, but the band have not confirmed what the other 14 tracks will be. U2 have previously released two greatest hits compilations - 'The Best Of 1980-1990' in 1998 and 'The Best Of 1990-2000' in 2002. Meanwhile, 'The Saints Are Coming' will be released as a download single on October 30 and as a CD single on November 6. All proceeds will go to the Music Rising charity. Is a new U2 "Best Of" a good or a bad idea after their previous two decade Best Of's?
October 3, 200618 yr WTF :o   :arrr: :arrr: What on earth are they releasing ANOTHER Greatest Hits only a few years after their last one  They have only released one bloody album since their last one <_< This is just a money grabbing load of c**p and they should be ashamed for agreeing to do this -_- Release the single for charity but don't put it on a bloody greatests hits album  I mosty definatly won't be buying this -_-
October 3, 200618 yr Author I wont be buying this like the Oasis' Best Of - as I already have all their albums (like Oasis).
October 3, 200618 yr I agree....not so sure if I won't buy it though  Why give them the satisfaction? Don't they have enough bloody money without cashing in only 4 years after their previous GH -_- I am really dissapointed in them and have lost alot of respect. It certainly was'nt the record company who are forcing them to release it like the oasis situation <_<

October 4, 200618 yr Probably indicates it's going to be atleast a year until the next album proper...
October 7, 200618 yr This is bizarre. They've had two greatest hits album already and (as Scotty said) only one album since then.T That album sold huge amounts - the album can be bought for £5-10 in every shop and all its singles are readily available on iTunes. What is the point of this album?
October 7, 200618 yr the point of this album is a-more money for them, and B-to have some of their best songs on one album
