The show's title does not refer to Tony's health status but to the fact that he'll likely be retiring as an artist after this album, and it's an honor for Gaga to participate in this moment with him. A real star knows when to leave the stage.

Exactly, and he is anyway pretty much the only star who is still this active in his 90s. Despite the Alzheimer's.

i dunno... i'm not trying to be cynical but i don't love the whole "tony's dying" narrative.

I wasn't going to respond, but I have to because this post has really upset me for multiple reasons.

Firstly, Tony has been diagnosed with Alzheimers and it's a clear fact that he is fast losing his memory and health and his life expectancy is limited due to this. Gaga and he are more than collaborators; Tony saved Gaga following ARTPOP and ensured she continued her musical career, Gaga is now by Tony's side at the end of his career.

To suggest One Last Time is some sort of marketing ploy to capitalise on Tony's condition is frankly sickening. The title is suggestive of the fact that it is the end of Tony's career of live performances. It is not a "narrative" it is an act of love between two dear friends and if you don't see it as that, please do not engage with this thread any further during the era.

I shouldn't be so upset by this assumption, but the man's potentially final performance will not be tarnished by internet "warriors".

You are trolling us at this point, I swear.

Right? This is literally the first time ever I've come across an opinion like that on Chromatica.

And to think that Gaga or someone on her team would be using Tony's condition to cash in on that is beyond hilarious, it's grotesque, insensitive & nasty. Gaga has sold out shows in stadiums and her latest album just went platinum, even though it was abandoned on its release, with only 2 singles released, not to mention her new movie that is coming and is already one of the most anticipated of the year.

Gaga would never need to capitalize on the illness of a great artist who helped her a lot, to promote herself. She's paying the last tribute to the legacy of an artist and, above all, a brave human being that even close to his 100, remains loyal to his audience. He's the biggest inspiration for Gaga or any other artist who wants a long and solid career.

Also, this album was already being planned in 2014, even before the release of CTC, as a follow-up album, and obviously well before Tony's diagnosis.

We're gonna do two albums in a row with her. We'll have to try and do that as soon as possible, just as a follow-up for a second album.

Stupid comments like that should not be tolerated here.

I’m not being callous or cruel and I certainly have said nothing against Gaga (actually I said it’ll be the most musically interesting project of hers since ‘Joanne’). This whole performance project just feels a little… off. Thats all. Perhaps its his desires i don’t know? If you can’t see a man with alzheimers disease’s team titling his final show as One Last Time a bit iffy… how green are you?

There's nothing off or iffy about this show or their new album, Tony and Gaga had already planned this follow-up album back in 2014, it would happen at one time or another, plus this album would come out even before Chromatica, as the album was finished by the end of 2018, when it was recorded. The album website leaked in the beginning of 2020, even before the Stupid Love announcement, it turns out that due to the pandemic, they had to postpone the album because Tony was in the risk group and would not be able to promote his new record with Gaga. If you don't know what you're talking about then keep your mouth shut, you know what you're doing. ;)

i imagine there's another reason for it coming out sooner than her other projects in the pipeline... ARTPOP 2, the scrapped Cher duet (didn't she say she was going to write something better than 'The Greatest'??), The Telephone 2 video,

Anyway, I'm a huge fan of the track 'Love For Sale' and cannot wait to hear.

The reason is that the album has been done for years + Tony is retiring, what don't you understand yet?

About ARTPOP 2, it'll never happen, Gaga doesn't like this phase of her career, and this duet with Cher was dropped a decade ago.

On another note... what are the sales comparisons between Chromatica and Cheek to Cheek 1? Intrigued to see if their similar...

In the UK?

Cheek to Cheek has a silver certification with estimated sales of 75k, Chromatica is gold with an estimated 160k.

Chromatica outsold CTC in SPS (sales + streaming), but CTC outsold Chromatica in pure copies (real sales). A jazz album would be the last thing someone who wants to sell a lot would release these days, as pure sales are almost dead, the industry is no longer the same as when CTC was released, this is yet another reason this album is a genuine form of homage to Tony's legacy.

Stop being so cynical ;). I was just curious to see how the sales differed and how many of her fans didn’t bother with CTC

That's not what you meant and we all know it, too bad you didn't have the courage to go ahead with other toxic and nonsense comments. I wasn't the only person who understood what you really meant, so don't try to play the fool and don't think we're silly. ;)

it truly isn't... i always get interested to see how fickle the gaga fans are actually.

Go find something better to do than try to create a mess, and be careful, we're not called little monsters for nothing :)
