October 10, 200618 yr the top 4 are a stark reminder that not only is the average NME readership age 12, it's also the average age of their writers. And probably not too far away from the number of readers they actually have these days, too. Poor old NME... it's days are rightfully numbered. Put this most sick of dogs out of its misery..... Totally agree mate, NME's circulation has absolutely plummeted in recent years, when I was reading it it had a circulation of 250,000 easy, nowadays it's more like 80,000.....
October 10, 200618 yr how about something a bit fresh and I'll do a decent stab at the US version... anyone fancy it? Will take a bit of thought first so before I lose the brain cells I'll check yeah i'll start off with the ramones and the song from the film accepted. bizrec bop??? i'll start a new thread for it just in case you wanna run with the uk stuff here http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19835
October 11, 200618 yr Would that include such names as Pixies, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr, REM, Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Superchunk, Slint, Tortoise, Pavement, Yo La Tengo, Buffallo Tom, Lemonheads. etc by any chance....? close... i'd say many of those are a bit too unknown to make the top 10 tbh, but in top 50 for sure (er.. maybe not superchunk tho). Main one you forgot was Violent Femmes. Also - another you forgot on the UK one was Carter USM. easily top 10 ever for UK i'd say

Well as it has been said maybe they shouldn't have used the words 'All Time' it's most likely that they'd put the most recent ones in if they're talking about the favourites right now (which is what it is basically) it's definitely the best top three possible for my SU last year anyway.. how predictable that people start having another pop at the NME when it's mentioned though
October 11, 200618 yr how predictable that people start having another pop at the NME when it's mentioned though  Well, why shouldn't we when it's their Poll......? Kerrang!! gets slagged off just as much in case you hadn't noticed.....
October 11, 200618 yr i would have NO PROBLEM with this poll if it simply said, current top 10 student anthems.
October 11, 200618 yr i would have NO PROBLEM with this poll if it simply said, current top 10 student anthems. Exactly... It's the fact that they're claiming it's an "all-time" list that I take issue with as well... I suspect that the NME of a decade or so back would've put a lot more thought into this....
