Nicky Wire: 'Snow Patrol are Britain's most hated band'

http://www.nme.com/news/manic-street-preachers/30423

Manic Street Preacher has harsh words for V Festival co-headliners

17.Aug.07 10:45am

Manic Street Preachers' Nicky Wire has told NME.COM he'll be avoiding this year's V Festival co-headliners Snow Patrol.

The Welsh trio are set to play the Channel 4 Stage over the weekend (August 18,19) but the bassist will not be making time to catch the Scottish-based band's performance ahead of Foo Fighters on the main stage.

"Snow Patrol is the biggest divide in Britain. They're probably the biggest band in Britain, but they're also the most hated," he declared. "It's a weird dichotomy for them. They are utterly deplorable, there is something unredeemingly utterly $h!t about them, you just cannot put one's finger on.

"It's a desperate form of music, the endless repeated lines, over and over, the same drab f***ing little thing on and on and on. They're the great losers turned into the great winners, that's their redemption. I won't be watching them."

 I detect alot of jealous from Nicky Wire towards Snow Patrol

The bloke outta the Manics would only say that as Snow Patrol have had more sucess than them i.e SP are more popular in the US.

No one else has said SP are Britain's most hated band! They wouldn't have sell out gigs, number 1 albums and hit singles would they!

Snow Patrol give Lisa campaign thumbs-up

Sunday, September 02, 2007

http://www.sundaylife.co.uk/news/article2919717.ece

The family of murdered Bangor woman Lisa Dorrian last night praised Snow Patrol for supporting their campaign for justice.

The chart-topping band wore blue ribbons in memory of the 25-year-old local woman (above) during their triumphant return to Bangor last night.

The group's front man, Gary Lightbody, who is originally from the seaside town, contacted the Dorrian family on Thursday to inform them the band would honour Lisa.

The ribbons were launched by the family in 2005 to allow people to show solidarity with their campaign to discover the whereabouts of Lisa's body.

Said Joanne: "Gary contacted to offer the band's support in 2006 but also to see if they could do anything to highlight our campaign.

"It was great to hear from them because Lisa was such a big fan of the band.

"It's fantastic to have a major band support us."

Snow Patrol Drummer Proposed On Stage!

TAKE 40 EXCLUSIVE

Snow Patrol drummer Jonny Quinn proposed to his girlfriend onstage a few weeks ago at a concert in his hometown!

Take 40 chatted to Snow Patrol front man Gary Lightbody recently, who told us the story.

"Jonny our drummer proposed to his girlfriend Mary-Anne on stage when we played Bangor our home town - Jonny and my hometown - and she was way over the other side... 100 yards away," Lightbody said.

So how did he do it? "He asked her on the last song... he put a thing on his drum kit and the camera focused on it so it went up on the big screens behind him."

Because Mary-Anne was so far away, Quinn had to wait a while before he got an answer!

Ulster rock band Snow Patrol were celebrating in Australia last night after being nominated for a hat-trick of gongs at this year's MTV European Music Awards.

The band, who are on the final leg of their Eyes Open Tour in Australia, are up for Best Rock/Alternative Act, Best Headliner and Best Album.

The winners are decided by public vote and will be announced at a glitzy red carpet event in Munich on November 1.

In the category of Best Rock act, Snow Patrol are up against the likes of Kasabian, Interpol, Muse, Arcade Fire, The View and The Twang.

For Headliner, they will be fighting off competition from, among others, Arctic Monkeys, Flaming Lips, Maximo Park and The Killers.

To win Best Album for Eyes Open, they will have to beat acts such as Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Kings of Leon and The Killers.

Earlier this year Snow Patrol were nominated for two Brit awards, but failed to win, despite being hotly tipped to pick up Best Album.

They were also nominated for a Grammy Award for the single Chasing Cars.

It's the third time Germany has hosted the MTV European Music Awards and this year the host for the night is Snoop Dog.

Snow Patrol: Let it Snow

http://www.sheknows.com/articles/entertain...Let-it-Snow.htm

Nancy J Price

Before they were wasting time chasing cars, Snow Patrol sold over a million albums in the UK, opened for U2 on several dates of the Vertigo tour, and got their second album on the US charts. Find out more about Snow Patrol, a band from Northern Ireland (by way of Scotland), in this exclusive interview from 2004.

For the past five weeks, Snow Patrol -- one of the UK's best and brightest new bands -- has been traveling across America on a bus that now shares certain traits with a warm m&m: shiny and colorful on the outside, dark and a bit gooey on the inside. Every member of the band has been hit with one virus or another, and right now, their lead singer can't manage to shake a bad cold -- one that was, in fact, so debilitating that the group had to cancel a daytime gig at a local record store earlier in the day.

They're so sick and tired, it wouldn't be hard to imagine that they would be ready to go home right about now. Back to Belfast or Glasgow or wherever you want to say they're from, depending on whether you base that "from" on their city of origin (the former) or their present home addresses.

But instead of moping around and counting down the minutes 'til the bell rings, these guys are loving every second of it. To be honest, anything America could throw at them at this point couldn't compare to what the band's been through already. So bring it on.

Its a big article so click the link if you wanna read the rest
