Does anyone remember the band Swanns Way and also the duo from the 80s called Scarlet Fantastic? swanns way are Mojo's one hit wonder this month on page37 for forgotten popsters.

swans way got to no 20 on feb 4 1984 with the song soul train. (on exit records)

they were drummer Maggie de Monde, double bassist Rick P. Jones and the vocals of Robert Shaw.

after releasing their album the band split and two of them (monde + jones) became Scarlet Fantastic with a hit called no memory.

so do you have a memory for this band?

(it also says maggie de monde is now in 'extras' and has recorded with david ball of soft cell under the name of mighty k)

I always loved "Soul Train" and still play it now and again. It's a forgotten 80s classic, a song that many people may not know by title but will remember when they hear the song. Brilliant!

I remember very little about Scarlet Fantastic. I remember someone posting about them at the other board last year and realising I have little memory of them, which is almost apt for their only top 40 hit (No Memory). Someone linked to the song and I vaguely remembered it, but would never have been able to place it if I didn't know who sang it.

wow i am amazed!! totally. thought this was gonna be really random and obscure :o :o like some of the threads they have in mojo

I used to have the Swans Way single, which is how I remember it! Many people will have either not heard it, or long forgotten it, so I'd say it is a fairly obscure song...
