Why is it that Becky Hill can't have a hit without a dance producer? Obviously her dance collabs are amazing but she's even great outside of those. This is particularly the case on this year's 'Back To My Love', released whilst 'Piece of Me' was still making its impact (more on that much later as it's a big EOY #1 contender). Her voice is just so outstanding, she shouldn't be this underrated. I do love the laidback urban production on this too and Little Simz's guest rap, it's well worth a listen.

Say It is so so good  A former #1 in my personal chart, it's been really unfortunate to see how Flume just hasn't managed to grasp a hit this era - Never Be Like You and the aforementioned both had massive hit potential so it was a shame to see both slip under the Chart radar :( Sad, because judging by how the rest of his work on 'Skin' sounds, he probably won't have another chance at a hit.
Very much into Dying For You and Never Ever so far, that sort of whirlwind fast-paced dance track rarely fails to get me excited, not to mention they're both really excellent collabs.

Nice to see Never Be Like You

I can't understand why most of you like Work From Home so much

Hey Dan, merry Christmas!

Work From Home is really an utter banger, so catchy and I love the urban vibe of the song too, works better for them than the pure pop tracks like That's My Girl imo. Omg at the 5H mess at the moment anyway, hoping they can still get hits without Camila, I think they should be fine!

Say It and NBLY pretty close on your EOY then :o I like Say It and the vocals are a highlight as you mentioned but I think NBLY is far more exciting production wise so that would be choice of favourite :D

WAY too much goodness here to comment in full so I'll stick to my top picks :D

Middle was absolutely brilliant, such a great moment when that sneaked into the top 10. Definitely his best track other than Turn Down For What (still love hammering that one).

You Got Me Baby is utterly divine. Had no idea it sampled a Joss Stone track though! Re-loving that one as it's just re-entered my weekly Chart :D

The 2 Danny L Harle tracks were great, particularly Super Natural a song I'm still spamming. Expect that to feature pretty high in my countdown.

Free Tibet what an iconic winner *_* shame I was unable to participate in that contest but at least I can full on support it in TBO!

Wow at that Norde track! Didn't think anyone else had heard that but that is immense (and IMO better than anything Disclosure have ever recorded :kink:)

Dying For You was really good too, my fave Otto Knows song (never really liked Million Voice actually).

The Rob Swire song was pretty disappointing actually & only charted for me on hype really. New Pendulum material next year wouldn't that be amaze?!

Lastly good to see the 2 Flume songs appear, I far prefer Say It to Never Be Like You but he's got a really distinct sound atm which I always look forward to when he drops a new track :D

Back To My Love is decent, I downloaded it and it was bubbling under my chart at one point! Sadly Becky's yet to blow me away with her solo material though. She's definitely capable of some bangers going forward though I'd say!

ADORE Work from Home  will be very very high in my countdown! Girls Like is fantastic too, I'd say it's my fave Tinie track actually
yay! it's definitely the girls' best song so good to see it did so well in the chart. I wouldn't put Girls Like in my Tinie top 5 I think, it's great though.

Probably because commercial radio didn't get behind Flume's songs, it was only Radio 1.

yep, I'd love to hear more of Susanne Sundfør and Lindsey Stirling on dance songs as they're both brilliant on their respective entries here.

Nice to see Never Be Like You

WFH is a big pop jam that's probably why :P

yeah I've never been a fan of pop 5H, their urban songs are usually good though. I think they'll be fine without Camila although they should probably rename themselves Fourth Harmony :P Both Flume songs are really good, Say It just slightly better though which is why it's only a few places higher.

I'd say Middle is even better than TDFW although that one is probably more 'iconic'.

I only found out it was Joss Stone ages after hearing the song initially, not fussed though as I'm not a fan of her.

Looking forward to Danny L Harle appearing in yours then.

Free Tibet needs to do well in TBO although it'll have a deduction sadly as Ethan is MIA.

Controversial opinion there :o Disclosure are proper amazing I'll have you know.

Million Voices is his best for me I'd say, and Dying For You isn't even his best of the year - he has another one coming up

Somehow I doubt we'll actually be getting a new Pendulum song/album. More likely they're just doing a tour.

I love both almost equally although Say It is definitely the preferred track here.

Back To My Love is decent, I downloaded it and it was bubbling under my chart at one point! Sadly Becky's yet to blow me away with her solo material though. She's definitely capable of some bangers going forward though I'd say!
Her dance collabs to seem to be on average better than her solo stuff, hope she gets given some more big tunes soon.

thanks guys~

Tropical house cover versions seemed to be one of the big trends of the year, although this one sadly didn't take off. It's a cover of the Jennifer Page song of the same name and it's very nice and chill. Though I don't think it really should be this high in the EOY myself but there we go this is the point system.

Commentary

Sigala has three big entries in my EOY in 2016, the first one of these was a bit of a change for him - going down the drum n' bass route although still keeping the production distinctly Sigala-sounding although clearly DJ Fresh has given some of his own influence. The steel drums in this are just so good alongside Imani's smooth voice, and apparently it samples Mariah Carey too though I don't see the resemblance myself having not heard her song in question. Maybe it's the do-do-do hook though, as that's really catchy and one of the best uses of nonsense/filler words in a song all year. Don't shoot me for having it this low Dobbo okay? It's brilliant, but not quite up there with his other three UK top 10s (that does include 'Give Me Your Love', yet to come despite 'Say You Do' outpeaking it by twelve positions here, just goes to show how little peaks really mean compared to longevity).

Hi Dan

Absolutely adore Say You Do (although not as much as Dobbo does ), it's just so joyous and was a welcome shift in sound for Sigala. I think it may be his best yet for me now, just ahead of Easy Love

Commentary

D.R.A.M. (Does. Real. Ass. Music.) got himself a huge US rap hit with 'Broccoli' which also spent a few weeks at the lower end of the UK Top 100 thanks to streaming. I do love the vegetable broccoli so I was of course going to like this song, well except the song is actually about weed and pussy. It's got such a catchy hook though and stays entertaining throughout. This year's been quite good for urban smashes anyway, we have a few more coming from the likes of Drake, Rihanna, Snakehips and Desiigner.

Commentary

'Freak Like Me' was one of the huge UK house tunes of the year, which was improved further when Katy B and MNEK were added to it for the single mix - two of the best dance vocalists of our time. It's just a big banger that really kicks off in a DJ set. What was baffling was the lack of music video and that it never even made the UK top 75, suffering likely from MoS being confused at transitioning to OA/OS releases.

Commentary

Unfortunately for Calvin Harris 'My Way' was released just as the year was coming to its end and with ten tracking weeks available it could only make it as high as #62. Calvin had such a good year in 2016 for how little he released, and two out of three making it to #1 in my chart isn't at all bad. This one spent 7 weeks at #1, one more than TIWYCF although I do prefer that a fair bit, this was just lucky to have barely any competition. Such a banger though, Calvin just keeps on giving. I just hope he either gives us an album in 2017 or more frequent singles though, I can't do with just three every year!!!

A lovely deep house instrumental here, Spinnin' Deep really pumps out the huge tunes on almost a monthly basis. It's well produced and sounded particularly great last winter, along with a stunning visual in the MV (snow and skiing ). Probably one that the casual music fans here won't get, but sounded great to my ears.
