Seeing as how there isn't a computer games forum ( <_< ), I figured this was the next best place to post this.

I'm a big fan of the Champ Man series (not as much the FM series), and wondered if anybody here has ever came across this game before?

VERY addictive games, many a time i've found myself spending up to 20 hours non-stop playing a game!

Nice one!

Like I said, i'm not as keen on FM as CM. I still play CM4 today, in fact!

So far, i've...

* Won the premiership 2 seasons running and the FA Cup with Liverpool (Until the game crashed and it wouldn't let me load up the save anymore <_< )

* Got Wolves promoted from division one into the Premiership and finished top 10 twice

* In my current game with Sunderland i've taken them from premiership strugglers to 6th place stars.. now THAT'S an achievement

the only thing I have against CM4 is that it's unbelievably s-----l------o-----w. You can find yourself staring at loading screens for up to 5 minutes at a time

Thats the thing with FM, its so damm slow so it bored me even more when you have to wait for it to load. :( Although supposivley in FM06 the loading times have been cut completley. :o Yeah I dunno whether i'll buy it though as I have more important stuf to buy first. ^_^

I personally would'nt recommend it

If you can try and get one of the older Champ Mans (3, 4 or 03/04). Supposedly Cm3 and 03/04 have much faster loading times than cm4

You could probs get them for under a tenner now anyways, and then at least if you don't like them it hasn't made a hole in your pocket

I'm really picky with all the stats and everything though on older games. :( I'm not the guy who will buy all the new versions just for the new stats but I just don't like old stats as they bring back too many bad memories IE the Liverpool season in 2002 were we purchased two of the greatest players ever in Diouf and Diao. :(

I'm picky with stats as well.. but not in that sense. I sit for hours looking through and comparing stats for each player. Call me boring if you want, it's what brings home the silverware :P

I'd never have the patienece to be able to do that. Its just bad enough waiting for the matches to simulate.

In that case, i'd go for 3 or 03/05..

You'd end up throwing your PC out the window waiting for Cm4 to load

Yeah your probably right. :( I could imagine me doing that tbh. :(

Don't feel too bad, i'm not really a man of patience, so many a time have I almost broken the computer in frustration waiting for it to load. Never mind, the only bad point of an otherwise very solid game.

It was my cousin who got me into the whole Champ Man thing... shame he didn't get me into it sooner so that I could have joined one of the (now defunct) messageboards and had a bit of help. I'm self-taught don'tchaknow?! :P

I think it was one of my mates older brothers who got me into FM. :o Yeah he thinks the same thing about FM as me; its a good game but it bores you very quicky. :( and yes add that to all the loading times it starts to ruin the game. :(

Yeah I taught myself how to use FM as well. ^_^ I've never been on one of the message boards though. :o I'm guessing though half of the people who are on the message boards are on the season were Wayne Ronney collects his pension?.

 most likely yeah

I couldn't play a game for that many seasons. 2 or 3 do me fine. I wanted to go further with my Liverpool game, but for some reason the game crashed every time I tried to load it, so I had to scrap it

What tactics do you use when playing FM? I've tried loads, but none seem to work very well

I just use the 4-4-2. Yeah I can't say i've ever experimented on lots of different formations as 4-4-2 is normallu effective for me. ^_^ But yeah on FM its all about balance and morale for your players. I eventually got sacked as Liverpooll manager cause all mu players morale went down and they couldn't win a game.

Wow, never been sacked for that before

In one of my earlier games, I took management of Crystal Palace(I think?). We got promoted through play-offs, but then half-way through the season in the prem we were 16th/17th.. and the board weren't happy, and by Christmas I had been sacked <_<

Should have been thankful that I took them up in the first place. Ungrateful so-and-sos

That's probablies been my least successful game, although i've had others where i've taken control of lower-league teams, failed to get them promoted and got bored.

I also use 4-4-2, attacking

I've been a fan ever since the very first one :P well actually it was the update in Championship Manager 93/94 :D and I have bought every single version ever since (well apart from the last two CM ones as I have bought FM 2005 and 2006 as that is where the Collyer brothers who made it went to after the SI split with Eidos) I've won everything over the years and had many acheivements including winning the lot with Man United several times, got several 'obscure' sides into the premiership including Stevenage, Thurrock and Morecambe  My most recent achievement was getting India into the World Cup. :cheer:

I have a good tactic if anyone wants me to send it to them ^_^

Yey!!! Someone I can discuss CM with

And you've got a lot of amazing achievements under your belt :o You seem to be quite the master tactician!

And i'd love to hear about that tactic :P

Well I might just upload it for you then :P Also there is FM Scout too which I hardly ever use which enables you to see everyone's abilities and potential so you can see how good all your players REALLY are.

In the words of a certain Alex Ferguson "B*ll*cks to that". I'm stat-heavy in my judgement. Players who have higher stats automatically get picked first. Unless they continually play c**p, in which case I try out other players with decent stats.

But the stats don't lie, people!!!
