ISTM some of the first week sale predictions here may be over-optimistic, given the 1/3 reduction that streaming will now suffer.

His first week pure sales will be huge though, regardless of the streaming changes. Though she's comfortably ahead, I'd say that after Adele, Ed is the second biggest UK artist at the moment.

Starting to think Ed's going to drop the whole album tomorrow, which will really change things. Still think he'll get the #1 single with whatever's getting a big radio/Spotifty push but perhaps with less sales than we're all predicting?
I don't think there'll be a clear first single from the get go, there often isn't when people drop an entire album. I think the only way he'd get a debut #1 single is if there was a track with a big feature that everyone elevate towards.

you're probably right, anyway with Ed Sheeran all his album tracks will be heavily streamed in week 1 and depending on how long the album is possibly all the tracks going top 40?

Yeah, I can see all tracks charting between 5 - 20. I can actually imagine all the album tracks being the top songs on Spotify, though I wouldn't be surprised if he withheld his album for at least a week.

Same here, his tracks are going to be all over the place if he releases an album tomorrow, plus we don't know how many tracks there are on the album yet. If he has got 10 that's fine, but I reckon he will have more than that. Or he might occupy the top 15 in the singles chart  pushing everything else down

I'm still relatively sure it'll just be one song, with that being a grat for the album preorder, like Joseph said.
I'd rather that just to see how much the album sells first week as if the first single is commercial and people like it the album could sell huge numbers even if it is released in Q2!
#1, 75-100k first week sales (though I'm hoping it can give the singles chart a kick up the backside and smash nearer to 150k), ~6 weeks at number-one.

Even though you don't know what it sounds like and you might hate it?

All this nonsense that a song will go to number one when no one has heard a note of it.

There's no harm in wanting a shake-up at the top of the chart. Besides, everything here is just a prediction, opinions may change when the song or songs appear.

I'm not talking about having a predicition that's fine but why aren't people challenging the fact that a song that no one has heard of is going to number one and people saying the hope it sells huge and be number one for 6 weeks.

I hope he takes the piss out of everyone and releases 3 mins of silence or a beep tone to challenge people who will listen or buy anything they haven't heard.

Have we really reached a stage where a song is guaranteed to be number one and not one person in the world knows what it sounds like.

Not even Ed himself? Thats some feat!
