Loads of players are seeded and pull out either before match or after draw so Murray no different he said he felt ok the few sessions he had at least he didnt do like some and turn up first round go on court then pull out keeping prize money and he no way been an embarrassment being Number 1 from Wimbledon onwards lots of players have been number 1 and injured and hold it due to no other player having consistent enough results to put them close or have nothing to their name major (Dinara Safina rings a bell in the womens side) Murray has been unlucky getting this hip problem after achieving all he did last year. Nadal being number 1 now is basically because everyone else been injured so no real competition for him or to keep their own ranking points up by playing week after week.

Well I didn't know that to be fair, I'm not a huge fan of Murray's anyway but I guess it's decent of him to not take the money. Glad we'll be getting a new BBC Sports Personality though, hopefully Mo will take it finally #offtopic

Great for Vandeweghe! Hopefully we'll have an all-American couple of semi finals then. Rooting for Venus of all of them :D

Del Potro beats Federer in 4 sets denying us of the Roger Nadal semi but I'd love Del Potro to go on and win.. and Madison does make it an all female US Open line up... first time since at the Us since 1981 and first time anywhere else since Wimbledon 85.

Mens Semi Finals

Nadal (1) V Del Potro (24)

Anderson (28) V Carreno Busta (12)

Ladies Semi Finals

Vandeweghe (20) V Keys (15)

Williams (9) V Stephens

I think this is a perfect chance for Venus to claim her 3rd US title her last in 2001!

I'm pretty sure every women's grand slam has an all-female line up ;)

Really impressed with the Americans' performances! Venus really deserves to go on and win but I don't know if she'll have it in her, she completely crumbled against Muguruza in Wimbledon but the players here don't have Grand Slam final experience so hopefully she can do it!

haha it was early and I was half asleep when I typed that.

I really do hope Venus wins it, Sloane is in great form after a long 11 months of injury her ranking was 900 odd earlier in year now top 40 so could be tough match. Not sure who will win between Madison and Coco they both hard hitters who'll battle to the death I think.

Mens side I'm really hoping Del Potro beats Nadal he crushed him last time played each other in the US Open before he went on to win it, think whoever wins out of them two will take the title, other semi final a bit of a non event really but could end up with an all spanish final if Nadal and Carreno Busta pull it off

Sloane advances from Venus match :snif:

my two favs in the tournament Federer and Venus are gone. I was lucky enough to be at the US Open this past weekend and it was amazing to see them live.

Not the final I was expecting but knew it could of gone either way and a weird score line to boot....

Sloane defeats Venus 6/1 0/6 7/5

Madison beats Coco 6/1 6/2

Womens Final 2017

Sloane Stephens V Madison Keys (15)

Ugh, so annoyed with Venus going out. Can't care at all about the result of the women's final now and this was probably her last chance at a grand slam win.

Many thanks for doing this, Mikeee1981 throughout the US Open. Very grateful.

I'm gutted that Venus has missed out on a final spot. I think this was her final chance, a golden opportunity.

Nadal beats Del Potro in 4 sets 4/6 6/0 6/3 6/2 and will face Anderson who took out Carreno Busta also in 4 sets 4/6 7/5 6/3 6/4.

I'm still gutted Venus lost as felt perfect chance for her to win it but I won't rule her out of reaching another final in a major she has had her best year in a while this year.

Mens Final 2017

Rafael Nadal (1) V Kevin Anderson (28)

These two finals look very peculiar, especially the Women's. Imagine the odds for a Stephens v Keys final before the tournament started? :o

About 500-1 possibly. A tournament full of upsets. A great chance for Stephens and Keys.
I'd really like Stephens to win, to come back from 11 months off and ranked just inside top 1000 before Wimbledon, both herself and Madison have only just returned at Wimbledon after surgery so its a great chance for both.

And incredible. Stephens has won the US Open in straight sets. What a fantastic comeback, she was ranked 957th 6 weeks ago. She'll move to 17th in the world. Probably one of the best comebacks in tennis.

Good to see another new Grand Slam champion in the Women's game (mind you, that's a pretty common occurrence these days :kink:)

Would love for an upset tomorrow but I can't see any way Anderson is beating Nadal, thought Del Potro would have had the best chance.

I dont see Anderson troubling Nadal either, Nadal seems to of had quite an easy draw. Del Potro lthe only real test but he was quite drained.

I can see it being a straight sets win for Nadal. Would like to be proved wrong though.
