Ed Sheeran made a triumphant comeback last week with two brand new tracks, from his forthcoming album ÷, and he sees both tracks zoom up to the top 2 spots in their first full week of availability. Both tracks outdo Ed's previous personal best, the peak of #7 achieved by both Give Me Love and Don't, which is a fantastic achievement. Shape of You is the one that makes it to #1, quite comfortably too, but Castle on the Hill achieves the title of this week's greatest gainer! They become Ed's fifth and sixth top 10 hits.

Also new in this week's top 10 is Don't Leave by Snakehips & MØ. Despite their official charts success last year, neither All My Friends nor Cruel actually charted in my top 40 (although both would've been just outside), so British electronic duo Snakehips score their debut hit this week. MØ however scores her sixth top 10 hit, with her personal best being the #1 peak of Cold Water.

Jax Jones scored a #1 hit in the UK charts as a feature on Duke Dumont's I Got U in 2014 but has failed to make much impact with any of his solo releases since then. The RAYE-assisted You Don't Know Me is his first top 10 hit in my chart, and his second in total after I Got U too. RAYE previously charted on Jonas Blue's By Your Side, but achieved a new personal best last week and does even better this week as You Don't Know Me zooms up 9 places to #9.

Spanish singer Manel Navarro (pictured) is a total newcomer to my chart, entering at #5 with his first single Candle, released in mid 2016 but I only discovered it during the week. Interestingly, just days later, he was confirmed to be competing in the Spanish national final to decide who represents the country at Eurovision! The song he is hoping to take to Kyiv is called Do It for Your Lover, and is a new entry at #40 after being released only yesterday (Friday), so expect a huge climb next week!

 

Joel Adams finally follows up his #1 debut hit Please Don't Go with new track Die For You which enters at #21 this week, and Daniel Skye charts with his sixth hit ON at #31. Both of these were also Friday releases so will climb next week, where I'll discuss them in more detail!

 

Benny, Robbie Williams and Future all make their chart debuts this week, alongside the return of Saint Raymond, who managed two #6 hits in 2015 with Fall At Your Feet and Come Back to You, alongside debut #1 album Young Blood. Nathan Sykes scores his third top 20 hit with There's Only One of You, now surpassing the peak of previous hit Famous.

You've definitely got Shape and Castle the right way round :) they're both great songs but the former edges it for me too. Looking forward to hearing what he has on the album!

 

The Snakehips/MØ collab is pretty decent too, and probably their most instant song for me. Plus it's great that it's keeping MØ's name out there after Drum's disappointing underperformance.

 

Great to also see Robbie Williams and Sia entering! I'm glad Sia has released Move Your Body (albeit as a remixed version) cos it was crying out for a single release. Hopefully it smashes :D
