January 20, 20178 yr Author Chart Analysis Top 10 After two weeks at number one for Zara Larsson, she steps down to make way for Aly & Fila - whose 'Unbreakable' climbs a place to the top following the announcement that they would be representing South Danaelanda in this month's edition of BJSC. It is not too common for our own entries to top the charts, although that hasn't stopped quite a few from doing so. Last year however only two of the ten songs we sent to BJSC made number one, namely Paperwhite's 'Get Away' and Maceo Plex's 'Mirror Me'. The former sneaked in a week at the top between the runs of 'The Right Song' and 'Lush Life', and Plex managed five consecutive weeks with his effort. Whether Aly & Fila can get that many weeks remains to be seen, but for now they have strong competition catching up with them. Jax Jones and Raye climb up two places with 'You Don't Know Me', overtaking 'I Would Like' which falls to number three this week. It becomes by far his most successful song in the charts to date, having beat the peak position of 'I Got U' (a #10 hit) a few weeks ago. In fact, every song in the top five, bar 'I Would Like', is a climber this week. TheFatRat 'Prelude (VIP)' continues his ascent up a place to number four, and WHTKD 'Say To Me' climbs two places to number five. Last week's number three, NVOY 'Make You Mine' is down three places, as is last week's number six, Clean Bandit 'Rockabye'. Above & Beyond 'Another Chance' continues to climb up one place to number seven, and just behind them Petit Biscuit 'Sunset Lover' climbs two places to number eight. Calvin Harris 'My Way' drops down a place to the bottom end of the top ten and in doing so ensures nothing enters or leaves the top ten this week. Top 40 climbers Small but significant climbs come from Alan Walker 'Alone' and Starley 'Call On Me' this week, ascending to numbers 11 and 12 and ready to take on the top ten next week. JP Cooper 'September Song' climbs ten places to #17, claiming his highest peaking position to date following 'Perfect Strangers' (a #18 hit). There are four entries in the top 40 this week, three of them being climbers. Yves V vs. Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman 'Daylight (With You)' returns to the top 40 having fell to #41 last week. It is back to its original peak at #37. KO:YU 'Don't Wait' also re-enters the top 40 but only just. It climbs two places to #40. Lastly, climbing into the top 40 as a new entry is Tove Lo 'True Disaster' which follows up her #12 hit 'Cool Girl' from last year. It has been bubbling under for a while but took advantage of the new year period to enter the chart. On its third week, it climbs four places into the top 40, at #39. New entries We have eight new entries this week, including a very high debut for The Chainsmokers as I predicted, and a few songs that rise from Bubblin' Under to the Hot 100. #13. The Chainsmokers - Paris [feat. Emily Warren] Let's start with the obvious one. This was clearly going to enter high as excitement for a new Chainsmokers single was high now that 'Closer' had been and gone. This one instantly out peaks it too, a very good effort from them really and one that could definitely go top 10 soon. #59. Fred V & Grafix and Metrik - Tension [feat. Kate Westall] Fred V & Grafix are one of my favourite drum n' bass acts, and also one that have kept true to their sound over the years. This also features big d'n'b producer Metrik and they really deliver with it, it's so energetic. The song has also just been sent to BJSC so that could help it ascend the chart. #67. Marshmello - Summer Following 'Alone' (still charting at #50), a video for album track 'Summer' was released on YouTube where I discovered the song last week and it's brilliant. I just wish it was summer right now though. #75. Will Sparks - Flamenco This one I discovered from the top of Dobbo's personal chart and it also got announced as his BJSC entry, so expect it to climb. It's a brilliant psy-trance instrumental, I'm glad we seem to be getting more of these recently. I didn't expect Sparks to go in this direction either so that's a good surprise. #79. Childish Gambino - Redbone I do like a smooth urban hit when it's done well, and this has been slowly growing for me. Love the throwback vibes and funkiness of it. #80. The Aston Shuffle - Make a Wrong Thing Right [feat. Micah Powell] This one finally enters my chart after ages on bubblin' under, it's a good enough Disclosure inspired tune for now that we don't have Disclosure back yet themselves. #98. Filatov & Karas - Satellite I think they suffer from all their songs sounding very similar. This is decent enough but it's been all done before so I can only get into it so much. #100. Ryan Blyth and After 6 - Show Me [feat. Malisha Bleau] This is a nice enough house tune, got a good bassline to it. Don't expect it will be big on this chart but could stay here a few weeks.
