Wow to Stormzy straight in at #13. I can see this debuting in the top 10 on Friday
(he probably will what with all the roadman traphouse seshes at the weekend)
I do wonder if the UK chart will ever look like the hot 100 with not many #1s per year. It probably won't happen for a few years but once streaming becomes more popular than sales then this is how the list of #1s could look. Buzzjackers would be complaining about the lack of change at #1 all the time

Burak Yeter - Tuesday #190 -_- don't really like the song but at least if it smashes i can say i called it in december #psychic7 etc.

I find it incredible that Train are still nowhere to be seen.

Probably because R2 and Heart listeners generally don't stream.

Well yes, but still given how it's doing on iTunes you'd think there would be at least some kind of correlation. Is it because Spotify haven't acclaimed it to any key playlists yet?

Surely if people want to hear a song, they don't just rely on playlists?

If I wanted to listen to Train, I'd search for it. People can't be THAT clueless to not know what songs are current and worth listening to

I think a lot of Spotify users *are* though. There is a clear correlation to being featured on Spotify playlists and doing well in the chart. Then there's the people who only stream the UK Top 50.

It really stinks that these playlists have so much of an influence on the chart, why is the industry always controlled by a few people pulling strings? (Not that I care much that the Train song isn't on them, just the general sentiment bugs me!)

I suppose it's not going to change though, people would be in uproar if Spotify took the playlists away as there are so many passive listeners who don't want to put any effort in whatsoever to finding music to listen to (why not just turn on the radio?).

But 'with great power comes great responsibility' and it would be nice if the playlists were updated or shuffled around more frequently or if more new songs were given a chance. It would certainly shake up the charts and help new artists to break through.

Exactly! If anything the charts are now more manipulated than ever because of that very thing, and record companies blatantly pay for a space on one of these playlists. It's a bad situation really.
at least we don't have boybands entering in the top 5 only to fall out of the top 40 three weeks later!
