Posted October 10, 200619 yr My Chemical Romance's Parade on the march Source: Music Week My Chemical Romance are on course for the biggest UK hit of their career as the physical debut of Welcome To The Black Parade is set to send the single racing up the chart this weekend. The Reprise/Warner Bros act, who debuted at 23 with the single on Sunday on digital-only sales, are now putting up the biggest challenge to Vertigo/Mercury’s Razorlight number one position achieved on the same day with America. My Chemical Romance’s previous highest-charting UK hit was I’m Not Okay (I Promise), which reached number 19 on March 2005. Welcome To The Black Parade looks likely to be the only arrival into the Top 10 in what is a relatively quiet week for new releases. Several acts join My Chemical Romance in being set to win strong chart rises on the back of physical formats entering the market, among them Data’s Beatfreakz with their take on Rick James’ Superfreak and EMI Records’ Mercury-nominated Hot Chip with Over And Over. Both are poised to move into the Top 40, which is also likely to welcome Virgin’s Placebo, EMI Records’ Corinne Bailey Rae and the same record company’s Badly Drawn Boy. The artist albums chart is equally fairly quiet in terms of new releases having a big impact on the chart with Roadrunner-signed Orlando rock band Trivium likely to be the only Top 10 arrivals this Sunday. Their album The Crusade is presently challenging for a top five place. Vertigo/Mercury’s The Killers are naturally unable to sustain the sales pace for second album Sam’s Town, which opened with a first-week total of 268,946 units, but they appear set to hold off challenges from Polydor’s Scissor Sisters, Wind Up/Columbia’s Evanescence and Vertigo/Mercury’s Razorlight for their number one crown. Outside the Top 10 expect new entries from Luther Vandross with a J/Sony BMG-issued new retrospective, Polydor’s How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria winner Connie Fisher, Mercury’s Milburn, Sting with a release on Deutsche Grammophon, Edel-signed Chris De Burgh and Interscope/Polydor’s Lloyd Banks. ==================================================================== Singles 01 Razorlight - America 02 My Chemical Romance - Welcome To The Black Parade Top 15 Beatfreakz - Superfreak Top 25 Hot Chip - Over and Over Top 40 Placebo - Meds Corinne Bailey Rae - Like A Star Badly Drawn Boy - Nothing's Gonna Change Your Mind ====================================== Albums 01 The Killers 02 Scissor Sisters 03 Evanescence 04 Razorlight Top 5 Trivium Top 15 Connie Francis Top 20 Luther Vandross Top 25 Milburn Top 30 Sting Top 40 Chris DeBurgh Lloyd Banks Top 75 The Bluetones Albert Hammond Jr Credit to Andy70 @ Havenforum
October 10, 200619 yr Any idea what Steve Brookstein's album is midweeks? I'm not a fan just interested to see how he's done without the tv show behind him, as I know his single flopped at 193. Thanks in advance
October 10, 200619 yr Quite a dull week this week - I think Razorlight still at the top or Scissors climb back up!!! Killers easily still top in albums!!
October 10, 200619 yr Hmmmm possibly: Albums: 01. Killers 02. Scissors 03. Evanescence 04. Razorlight 05. Lily Allen Singles: 01. Razorlight 02. Scissors 03. My Chemical Romance 04. Diddy & Nicole 05. Bob Sinclar
October 10, 200619 yr My predictions: 1. Razorlight 2. Diddy and Nicole 3. The Hoff 4. MCR 5. Bob Sinclar
October 10, 200619 yr Hmmm I was sort of right then. MCR top 3 I guess then and new entries from Beatfreakz, Hot Chip, Placebo, Corinne and Badley Drawn Boy. Aylo will be pleased :kink:

October 10, 200619 yr I can't stand the 'relatively quiet' weeks, the charts seem so boring when this happens...5 new entries is really :lame: But pleased for the Killers at 1 and :o at MCR top 3, hopefully Beatfreakz will go top ten (sorry!!)
October 10, 200619 yr Any idea what Steve Brookstein's album is midweeks? loads of old grannies in tescos is probs the answer. did you read that thing about the ig nobel prize where some inventer has made an alarm to scare of people under 30 as people over 30 cannot hear the frequency that i bleeps out at. well i think it works the other way round and people like this and daniel o donnel put out albums that emit a noize only relevant to people over 60 and so that makes them buy it
October 10, 200619 yr I can't stand the 'relatively quiet' weeks, the charts seem so boring when this happens...5 new entries is really :lame: well i suppose this is what the record companies/chart people wanted. so it down slow it down so much so there's no roni size or adam f records cropping up at the bottom every month or so.
October 10, 200619 yr Quite an uneventful week this week by the look of things. I wonder if Corinne Bailey Rae will end up doing a Bedouin Soundclash and this higher profile reissue will end up charting in exactly the same place it did before? (Which was #34 first time round for her I think). My Chemical Romance's new song isn't bad. I've prefferred other stuff they've done before. But this one looks set to be their mainstream breakthrough. I think it'll fall as the week goes on, but it will probably be top ten at least.

October 10, 200619 yr well if you like it or hate it, good if it went 23-1 Didn't someone on here predict it would "only make top 15 if that" when it's download only postion was confirmed? I thought that was a bit of a strange thing to say. If it makes just outside the top 20 it usually goes top ten.

If it makes just outside the top 20 it usually goes top ten. Usually download tracks that enter between 15-30, they have a good strong chance of getting to the top 10, even #1, as Beyonce charted at #21 the following week ended up at #1

However Wooloworth stocking it at #1 is likely to give a boast to keep it high throughout this week. Fingers crossed. :P
