Just saw this on Popbitch.

They are saying that a song by a woman called Nerina Pallot (from 2001) called Patience bears a close resemblance to Take That's Patience. She was on the same record label before being dropped.

I'm not sure. Bits of it seem very similar (the beginning especially). But the chorus is different I think. Wonder who is credited as being the writers? :unsure:

I have posted it in the chart forum to see what everyone else thinks. It is extremly similar and they clearly sampled this track :o

I' m really not sure tbh. It could be they've used the earlier track as their base, tinkered around and rewritten bits. But to keep the same title? Even the lyrics are quite similar in places. :wacko:

The verses are different but the music and the 'patience' chorus part are really similar :o

I guess Popbitch thought so too. ;)

I would say TT's patience clearly samples the melody of this song but probably with permission - last thing TT would want is an ensuing legal battle with a comeback single.

 

The lyrics in TT's patience are original though therefore differentiating their work from the above artists.

It would be interesting to see whose name(s) is/are on the writing credits of TT's song. Anyone know? :unsure:

They wrote it with someone called John Shanks. He also co-write most of the songs on the album.

 

The'patience' part in the chorus is such a rip off :lol:

Well it dosent seem to have been picked up on by this artist Nerina Pallot so maybe shes ok with it? We dont have all the details so I would advise people on here not to make assupmtions.

 

All you guys are supposed to be fans of TT - so why do you all seem so hell bent on picking holes in their comeback project? I wish them well with it even if all the tracks on the album arent to my taste.

Well people that spend this much time talking about their work and taking an interest in it I would imagine like them somewhat. Surely your not here just to diss them? TT were always a good group and still are even if there's a big Rob shaped hole in it.

 

But now we have Rob's fanstastic solo career and TT making records again so its all good!

Sampling is rampant these days - E.G Madonna - Hung Up. Nothing wrong with it if its done tastily and legally!
