April 3, 20178 yr Lead single Now Or Never is out. Sounds like a smash! I can't find it anywhere
April 3, 20178 yr I was hesitant to link because we aren't allowed to post illegal download links but this embed is just the song: http://www.josepvinaixa.com/blog/halsey-now-or-never/
April 4, 20178 yr It's out now in the UK, I presume it is everywhere else too! It's growing on me a bit more but I think it feels like a safe Spotify hit rather than the sort of music that she excels at. So it sounds like it could do well but it's not really that special.
April 5, 20178 yr kzQTc0-iBX8 This sounds more like a remix of Halsey than Halsey herself which makes me sorta disappointed that it's not angst-filled and such, this is a Tinashe track if anything erasing all of that I love it
April 5, 20178 yr I'm not getting the video. I mean I get it, it just doesn't flow with the song. First listen 6/10. This will shoot up at least a point just because I've only heard it via the choppy music video.
April 5, 20178 yr This is just odd. Its quite a weak song to return with, especially one that should be the full breakout moment after the snowballed success of her first album and of course, Closer. At the same time though, she does seem to have taken inspiration from the latter, through the simple melody and nursery rhyme esque chorus. It makes the fact that she's so pretentious even worse. That video is completely unnecessary and is made to look as though there's loads of thoughts and meaning behind it but, at the end of the day, it really does not match the song at all as Tyler said. There's no need to keep interrupting the song or having the speech over the song, like stop trying to think you're better than you are. :drama:
April 5, 20178 yr What I loved about Halsey was her originality, like I hadn't heard anything like Badlands before and her lyrics in every track on that album are so inspired and you can tell they really come from her. This song, the first thing I think of is it's like a female version of a watered down Justin Bieber track and the video is like she's trying to do a Lana Del Rey and it's just not working for her at all. I don't remember the last time I was so disappointed tbh, I'm actually pretty sad that this is what she's come back with and I'm lowkey dreading the album now because if this is the sorta tone of the whole thing then I'm not gonna be into it  I think with Room 93 and Badlands she was really writing them for her and for "the art" but with this, it's like she's just focusing on the commercialisation and going with what she thinks will sell to a mainstream audience :/
April 5, 20178 yr See I'm generally here for the kinda sound she's gone for with this new track, but I'm not sure it works at all. It's not particularly catchy, in fact I've played it a few times and find it quite forgettable, and it's just a bit empty. I can understand wanting to be more commercial following Closer, I always thought she had the potential to have a HUGE second era, but so far I'm not convinced :(
May 4, 20178 yr Author this is A LOT more instant than now or never, i think i might have hope for this album after all, as long as there's still some kind of gasoline/strange love bangers
May 4, 20178 yr I don't understand why they don't really push Halsey. She just had a massive hit with The Chainsmokers which put her in a real good position to come out with a huge solo smash, but her newly released content doesn't have a hint of hit at all.

I don't get that impression at all, I think both songs we've heard could have been radio hits
