It is a milestone for sure but is this a cause for celebration or anxiety? so not only will it put the wobbles on the USA infrastucture but it might cause problems for the world. how will the growth of the us population distroy the world? in enviroment, in ego in anything really?
October 11, 200618 yr Author I wasn´t aware they were so many... It´s almost twice as Brazil. 100mil in 1915, 200mil in 1967, 300mil in 2006. someone gotta work out when the 400mil should turn up.
October 11, 200618 yr Surely the population of China and India dwarf the US, can they sustain their population growth
October 11, 200618 yr Surely the population of China and India dwarf the US, can they sustain their population growth Definitely not if everyone in China or India decides that it wants to have the same level of consumption as the US, and there is every evidence that they do.... The question isn't 'can China and India sustain this?, the question is 'Can the Planet sustain this...?' Frankly, I dont think it can and we are heading for total system collapse within 25 years if we carry on down this insane road of uncontrolled economic development and consumption. I was watching a frankly frightening report on the news tonight about the consequences of China's economic growth - 25% of the Yangtze river is now basically polluted beyond all hope of saving, and this is in a space of a decade or so.... This will have disastrous consequences for tens of millions of Chinese people who rely on the river for water supply... Frankly, it's a human tragedy just waiting to happen, and the Chinese Govt is doing a big fat fukk-all about it....

No problem with population. US will loss wealth due to widespread corruption with puts pressure on the population. Also because growth in population is mainly spanish speaking, within 10 years (possibly less) the most wide spoke language in the US will be Spanish. I think that will have more impact, then the population growth to be honest.
