Even the Beatles average songs were miles better than most artists, the reason they were so popular is that their songs are so memorable, and its why so many other artists have covered them.

Don't think there will ever be a song writing team like Lennon & McCartney ever again.

I'm a huge Beatles fan by the way. :)

Was reading they have reissued George's Living In The Material World :)

Must-have reissue

GEORGE HARRISON: Living in the Material World

(Apple/Parlophone)

George Harrison’s first post-Beatles album, All Things Must Pass, had a job to do: to prove that there were three brilliant songwriters in that band, not just two. That done, he was then free to pursue the life he wanted — moving ever further from fame, the charts and all that nonsense. His next album, Living in the Material World, was therefore lighter on production and hits — although both it and the pretty Give Me Love reached No 1.

Harrison will always be too preachy for some, but if you can cope with a rich man telling you that you don’t need money, there’s plenty here to enjoy. His slide-guitar work is wonderful, and songs such as Try Some, Buy Some, The Day the World Gets ’Round and Don’t Let Me Wait Too Long reach gorgeous peaks. ME

It definitely bothered me to read previous topics on this board where numerous people claimed the Beatles were "overrated." Give me a break, they are DESERVEDLY the best pop band of last century. I'd like to say that I'm unbiased and have no sentimental attachment because I wasn't born until long after they disbanded... but even my generation grew up with the Beatles because our parents played them. And even to this day they are still a huge part of pop culture. I cannot turn on the TV without hearing one of their songs in a film, advertisement, or program. Either way, biased or unbiased, I think that all you have to do is listen to some of their songs and you'll understand why the Beatles achieved such legendary status. It's a level of popularity that no artist since has even come CLOSE to achieving.

Please allow me to run off on a tangent here, but, as a user of eBay for another artist, I have seen a Beatles White album with number 00006 stamped on the cover for auction there, with, when I did last look, having a bid of 12,800 USD, which had not met the reserve price of the lister. Something at that price is way out of my price range for a vinyl item, regardless of the artist... Am I insane for posting this here? Probably, but, just thought I'd let some know as to what's out on eBay, and other places.
