I'm kinda glad to see Steps run at #1 finally come to an end, despite being a fan of the song. And I have to admit, I didn't really know who Imelda May was until recently but I'm quite liking 'Should've Been You'. She has a great voice! Going to give the album a listen tomorrow.

 

'Malibu' is pretty good, I should have known Miley would buck the trend and come back with something completely different to what people were expecting. It's a nice little song but I don't know if it will be as well remembered as Wrecking Ball or We Can't Stop (or even Party in the USA!)

I surprised myself at how long Steps remains at #1, but each and every week was truly deserved. It's an utter joy to hear the song played in my town on nights out and the reception it gets from everyone is incredible. It's so happy, positive and uplifting, uniting the crowds in a way Chainsmokers-inspired drops are just unqualified to do.

 

Hope you enjoyed Imelda's album if you've listened. Her previous ones are worth a listen too, although those are rockabilly opposed to the softer, soulful sounds of this current album.

 

'Malibu' is a great song for Miley to return with. It's so chilled and summery and the focus is on her voice. She looks so pure and refreshed in the video too; you just get the sense that she's parked the wild Bangerz era and moved onto new things. She'd have burned out had she continued, even if it's what people expected from her, so I definitely think she's made the best choice.

Wow at Best Behaviour riding high right now! Seems to have been a slow burner for you. Really don't know why it didn't catch on with the public, it had pretty great exposure but it just didn't seem to click, kinda baffling to me. I hope she has a killer next single and we can sweep the chart peak for this under the rug.

 

I got pretty bored of Miley in the last era, the first two singles were fantastic pop tracks but her image and the controversial stuff just got pretty tiresome for me. Thankfully she's switched things up and this new era is already feeling really fresh. Malibu is a fantastic track to come back with, so relaxed and summery, hope it can be an enduring hit and eventually crack her #11 curse and make the top 10!
