Posted October 14, 200618 yr SINGER Michael Jackson's former wife, Debbie Rowe, has reportedly given up all visitation rights to their two children in return for alimony of about $US750,000 ($A1 million) a year. Ms Rowe's lawyer confirmed last month that the couple had settled their long legal battle over custody and visiting Prince Michael, 9, and Paris, 8, but no details of the terms were released. Show business magazine US Weekly reported this week that according to a source close to Jackson, Ms Rowe had opted for the cash payments. "Michael is satisfied with the results, and I believe Ms Rowe is satisfied," Jackson's lawyer, Michael Abrams, told the magazine. Last month Ms Rowe's lawyer, Marta Almli, said: "We're still dealing with the details but it addresses all of the disputes between the parties." The settlement would have been unlikely if it was not appealing to both parties, she said. Ms Rowe had voluntarily relinquished all her parental rights to the children in 2001, but changed her mind after Jackson was accused of child molestation two years later, according to court documents. After his arrest, she filed for temporary custody, alleging she was concerned that during the criminal case Jackson would be too distracted to care for the children. She testified for him at his trial, describing him as a loving and caring father. Jackson was acquitted on all the charges in 2005 and left the US. He and Ms Rowe, a nurse for his plastic surgeon, had married in 1996. She filed for divorce in 1999 and it became final the next year.
