A very good run so far for Swish at the top spot. I really wish I liked it more than I do but I don't know if I can ever get over the cringey lyrics and dated production tbh, it just feels so stale and awkward compared to the freshness of CTTR when that first debuted. I have enjoyed Witness a fair bit but the whole era has been a bit of a disappointment tbh, I expected so much more after the long wait we had since Prism.

 

Great to see Feels climbing here, I can't get enough of it at the moment. At first I did think it was a bit of a bop but now I can't get the hook out of my head - the video really helped me enjoy it even more too as it all just looks so stylish. I'm not keen on Pharrell usually but even his verses are delightfully summery :wub:

 

The Man is really growing on me at the moment too, it's not Killers classic really but it is a nice little track and has done its job in making me hyped for the upcoming album. Would be amazing to see Mr Brightside return to the top 40 too this week considering how well it's doing on iTunes and streaming at the moment :w00t:

 

Two great new entries there as well, New Rules is already one of my favourite Dua tracks (and what a brilliant video too!!) and the same goes for Humongous being one of my favourite Declan tracks already (only behind Brazil which I see you love too :cheer:)

Hi Josh!

 

'Swish Swish' is indeed kinda trashy but I can't help but adore it. I've never really taken it seriously which helps; it's more of a tongue-n-cheek f***-you anthem and is just a gloriously infectious song that never fails to get me on the dancefloor. Nicki's verse could quite possibly be her best ever and I always remind people of how well I can recite it! :lol: I had hoped we'd get insightful and fresh songs in the vein of 'Chained to the Rhythm' back when that was released, but it's been more Katy's image and attitude that has tainted the era for me rather than the music itself.

 

Yeah, the video really pushed the song up my affections too. I like how slightly psychedelic it is; absolutely adore the colours and styling and the transitions. The song itself is perfect in the sunshine and all featured artists really add something. Definitely the strongest from this era.

 

I wasn't too sure to what degree I liked 'The Man' at first, in the sense that there was something really good about the song and something that I wasn't too sure on. Thankfully I was assured I really did like it and it's currently one of my driving essentials! It would be fun to see 'Mr Brightside' defy the aims of the new chart rules and climb back into the Top 40 but I'd sooner see 'The Man' get there.

 

I didn't really get why everyone was really bigging up 'New Rules' at first (it was an album highlight for sure, but I didn't feel the same overwhelming response everyone else seemed to have) but then the video dropped and I'm shook! Really strong pop video; loving the choreography and how it really makes the most of the song's lyrics and theme. I'm excited by how fast it's been climbing on iTunes; would be great if this could be a genuinely big Top 10 hit for her.
