Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has offered to lend his Chelsea counterpart, Jose Mourinho, one of his goalkeepers.

Chelsea are without their first-choice stoppers after both Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini suffered head injuries during Saturday's win against Reading.

A Bolton spokesman said: "Sam suggested that if we can get keepers out on loan, then we will consider it.

"He said yesterday if Jose or Chelsea come enquiring about them, we will certainly talk to them."

Under Premier League rules, Chelsea would have to apply to the board if they wanted to draft in a temporary goalkeeper.

The board have discretion to allow their request if they consider the circumstances to be exceptional.

Uefa rules, which apply to the Champions League, also allow a club to bring in a temporary stopper if they have two keepers ruled out by long-term injury or illness.

The club must announce the change to Uefa 24 hours before the goalkeeper will be expected to play.

With Jussi Jaaskelainen firmly in place as the Bolton number one, Allardyce has former England international Ian Walker, Oman international Ali Al-Habsi and trainee Chris Howarth waiting in the wings.

Al-Habsi moved to the Reebok Stadium in the January transfer window but has yet to make any appearances for the club while Walker has only played once this season in the Carling Cup.

Cech faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a depressed fracture of his skull.

Cudicini was also concussed and carried off during the match but was released from hospital later on Saturday.

The Italian, however, is doubtful for Wednesday's Champions League home tie against Barcelona and Chelsea are likely to turn to third choice keeper Hilario.

Looks like Cech is gonna be out for the season then. :o Which is only a good thing from other clubs point but its quite a serious injury and he's lucky as he could have come off a lot worse.

I don't think Hilario would have thought at the beginning of the season that he would ever play a match of great importance. But he is and against Barcelona of all teams and seeing as the Champions League is one of most important things to Abramovic, so I think he'll be under a lot of pressure against Barca.

Well, this might level out a bit the already hilariously overblown gap between Chelsea and the rest of the Premiership...if you'd told me five years ago I would support Man Utd winning the Premiership, I'd have thought you were mad but these days there's not much else in the way of hope :(
 What a fool to lend them one. Let them struggle for once in their lives.
john terry had to go in goal. i think he was alright in goal. but it is a shame what happened to the goal keepers. peter cheh has got fracture skull bless him.
i know he was only in for a few mintes wasn't he.

They need Glen Johnson back. He was brilliant in goal that time. ^_^

But its ludacris that Bolton would loan Chelsea a keeper. I don't really get what Bolton would get out of it at all.

I wonder if Barca will hit double figures!

Shame about Cech, but then, despite what the papers are saying (blowing it WAY out of proportion as per usual), the Reading player wasn't really to blame. It was an accident. I mean, you can't exactly go out and try to knee someone in the head on purpose, can you?!?!?!

And let's hope Barca hit double figures and bring "The Special One" *coughs* down a few pegs :)

Yeah I think Jose was comparing the challange on Cech to the one that happened to Pedro Mendes with Ben Thatcher. It was a bad challange but it was no way near as bad as the one on Pedro. I think i've heard somewhere that Cech is gonna be out for a whole year. Which is a shame as he's a good keeper and seems like a nice guy but from the rest of the Premiership's point of view the Cech injury is a good thing.

Yeah, Cech is a top class keeper. But his injury means that Chelsea now have to try and win a game without using a world-class goalkeeper, something they've never had to do before...

..should be interesting

I've never seen Hilario play but I reckon he'll be decent enough. :P Maybe not a top class kepper like Buffon or Cech but I think hell be good enough for the time being anyhowz. Cudicini was one of the best keepers in the Premiership before Cech arrived, but you dont become a bad player over-night so I still think he'll be pretty good so Chelsea should be able to last whilst Cech is injured.

The main problem for Chelsea will be the physcological part of the game against Barca as I have a feeling theyll use the fact that Chelsea are without a world class kepper against them.

Hilario is such an ironic name for the Barca match  plus he's had a bad game against them before ^_^

Oh right. I never looked at his name in that way but yes it is quite ironic. :o I bet he's just hoping he doesn't mess up tomorrow or you can kinda guess what will be over the back pages on Thursday.
