Posted July 29, 20177 yr So the single first appeared on the US hot 100 at #63 on the 12th August 1995 a little less than a month after Robbie left the band. 11 weeks later the song broke into the top 10 eventually reaching #7 on 11th November and overall stayed in the top 10 for 5 weeks. That peak week the US top ten looked like this: 1. Fantasy - Mariah Carey 2. Gangsta's Paradise - Coolio featuring LV 3. Runaway - Janet Jackson 4. Kiss From A Rose - Seal 5. Tell Me - Groove Theory 6. As I Lay Me Down - Sophie B. Hawkins 7. Back For Good - Take That 8. Only Wanna Be With You - Hootie and the Blowfish 9. Who Can I Run To - Xscape 10. Name - Goo Goo Dolls. As you can see the American chart was dominated by R & B, Rap and Alternative Rock and not Pop music so much. They went on all the major US shows once the song was becoming/became a hit. My question is if Robbie had remained in the band a little longer (potentially having seen the inroads of BFG in America) do you think they could have got the record higher than #7? I feel watching these interviews they are good however Robbie's presence and charisma on these shows would have gained more attention/interest and possibly pushed the record slightly higher Stateside. Of course the guys are all charismatic but Rob would have brought a different element to the US audience. Despite being a pop artist he connects to an urban rap/hip hop audience. In his prime 50 cent (2003 etc) was desperate to work with him and a lot of US rappers seem to be fans. It's safe to say that the top three of Mariah, Coolio and Janet would have been incredibly hard to shake in 1995 America but with Rob still in the band I feel it could have gone top 5. The interviewers and shows would have lapped him up. Michael and Janet Jackson 'Scream' #56 and Elton John 'Believe' #59. Could they have taken Back For Good higher? As far as the albums in America was concerned Nobody Else peaked at #69 on 18th November 1995 and these were the top 10 albums in America that week: 1. Dogg Food - Tha Dogg Pound. 2. August 14, 20177 yr I don't think they could achieve higher peak with Rob. In solo career, Rob can't hit in US like ED Shreen. Take That and Rob just don't have that thing that attracts American.
