Pretty Enjoyable (7/10):

1. New Rules (a slightly more substantial chorus would be lovely, but I like pretty much everything else about it)

2. Rockabye (in all actuality, this is probably a high 6, but Sean Paul's goofy toasting (ex: "Daily Struggle!") never fails to make me grin)

 

Good Enough (6/10):

3. Symphony (this is my first time hearing this (don't blame me, blame the taste of the American public), but I quite like this one - "New Rules" had better watch out)

4. Feels (nothing in here is as exemplary as Khalid's chorus on "Rollin", nor do the performers gel with the production as well as Migos and Frank Ocean on "Slide", but this is good fun all around)

5. Despacito (Justin Bieber's "contribution" is nothing spectacular, but thankfully the original works quite well without him)

6. Shape of You (kudos to Ed, this one has held up quite well given its ridiculous overexposure; that being said, it is a flawed, but ultimately enjoyable effort)

7. Sign of the Times (I'm not too wild about this overstuffed and plodding variety of rock, but it makes more for some nice variety this year)

 

The Vaguely Positive Side of "Meh" (5/10):

8. I'm the One (if only Chance's and Quavo's verses were attached to a slightly better song)

 

It Doesn't Really Do Much for Me (4/10):

9. Bridge Over Troubled Water (it's a little better than your run of the mill charity song (Stormzy's actual empathy helps immensely), but the usual problems are still as present as ever)

10. Wildest Thoughts (neither "Maria Maria" nor bored Rihanna really do much for me)

literally despised every number one single bar Rockabye and Symphony but they've both been played to death so.

Not adding New Rules yet as don't want to curse it :argh: Easily #1 though if it happens!

 

LOVE:

1) Symphony 9.5/10 | my favourite Clean Bandit tracks nowadays, Zara's vocals are fab, the production slays as usual and I love the way the song builds. The lyrics are also great.

2) Rockabye 9/10 | Clean Bandit have been on fire this year

3) Sign of the Times 9/10 | Was not expecting Harry to slay so badly, an epic track that builds and builds <3

 

GOOD:

4) Wild Thoughts 8/10 | A catchy bop, by far the best DJ Khaled song

5) Bridge Over Troubled Water 7/10 | This was a really well done Charity single tbh and I prefer it a lot to many of the other recent attempts

 

HATE:

6) Feels 2/10 | This is starting to grow on me as it is a bit of an earworm but I'm still not really liking it. Best song of this Calvin era though :(

7) I'm The One 0/10 | Horrendous mess, don't like one part.

8) Despacito 0/10 | Vile.

9) Shape Of You 0/10 | Even more vile.
