Lucie Silvas was born in 1977, in Surrey, England. Her father, Mike, is from New Zealand and her mother, Isobel, is also a singer and is from Scotland. Her hometown is now Leicester, where she lives with her boyfriend, rugby player, Geordan Murphy. How did Lucie start out? Lucie grew up immersed in music. She started playing piano at the age of 5, and at the age of 10 composed her first love song. According to Lucie: "When everyone at school was listening to Bros, I was listening to gospel music, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole and The Carpenters. Especially The Carpenters, Karen's voice was just amazing." Lucie left school at sixteen, and went on to college and studied until she was eighteen but never made it to university, and then she became a backing vocalist for the well known singer Judie Tzuke (her sister Mia has also been a backing singer for Judie). Lucie did release the single 'It's Too Late' in 2000 but following this, her album was never released. She then went on to write songs for other artists including Sarah Whatmore, Gareth Gates, Rachel Stevens and Liberty X before releasing What You're Made Of and the album Breathe In. At the time of the album launch, Lucie commented: "Today I've worked out what being Lucie Silvas is. It's taken a while to get there, but now I can say, "This is me, this is who I am"'. The Silvas clan! Lucie's band currently consists of Mia Silvas (her sister, backing singer), Laura Wilson (backing singer), Richard Lobb (guitarist), Tom Meadows (drums), Jon Green (piano/keys) and Ben Epstein (bass). Who has Lucie performed with? She has performed with several artists in one form or another. These include Lionel Ritchie, Daniel Bedingfield and Ronan Keating. How many copies of Breathe In have been sold? To date Lucie has sold more than 500,000 copies of her album Breathe In and in it's first week of release reached its highest position in the uk of #11. It has also reached #1 in both Holland and Spain. What singles has Lucie released in the UK? January 4, 200718 yr Author Last I heard it'd sold 400,000 in the UK... I keep messing up figures though, it's so hard to get updates on the album these days. It's definately sold half a million worldwide but I can't be sure on anything over that but I'm thinking it must have sold quite a lot more by now. So confusing!
