New Beyonce Track Leads 'Dreamgirls' Soundtrack

October 18, 2006, 4:20 PM ET

Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

A new Beyonce song, "Listen," leads the soundtrack to the film "Dreamgirls," due Dec. 5 via Music World/Sony Urban, 16 days before the film opens in wide U.S. theatrical release. The cut, which Beyonce co-wrote, is due to arrive this week at U.S. radio outlets; its video will premiere the week of Nov. 13.

Although the full track list has yet to be announced, another song from the album, "One Night Only" has been making the rounds as a dance mix. "Dreamgirls" will also be available in a two-disc edition with extra music from the movie.

"Dreamgirls" is loosely based on the rise and fall of the Supremes and stars Beyonce as a member of an up-and-coming vocal trio. Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and Danny Glover also appear.

Beyonce will perform Nov. 21 at the American Music Awards, although it is unknown if she will play a track from her new album, "B-Day," or a song from "Dreamgirls." The cast of the film is expected to visit MTV's "TRL" in early December.

It looks likely like this will be released as a double-A side with 'Ring The Alarm' sometimes around Christmas/early next year....

Hmmm. How interesting, was never too keen on Listen, I might give it another "listen" and see what I think. :D
which one is listen, is that the encore to the fans one?

which one is listen, is that the encore to the fans one?

Its the song taken from the "Dreamgirls" soundtrack and is on the tailend of "B'Day".

is she going to release listen/ring the alarm in the uk?

if so that would be bloody brilliant, coz i adore both songs.

i hope 'Get Me Bodied' is released as well

Hope this is the last single, then she can work on bringing something good out!

Apparently she's said we are to expect 6 singles from this album

Which makes me think they must be;

Deja Vu

Ring The Alarm

Irreplaceable

Listen (If This Can be Counted as B'Day, if not there is a 7th song in this list)

Upgrade U

Get Me Boddied

Resentment*

Although it could be Freakum Dress

I still don't like Listen.

Oh and most of those tracks you listed (apart from the 3 with videos) are awful. -_-

'Upgrade U' WILL be the next single after 'Irreplaceable' (to be taken from B'Day) anyway. Its getting a heavy amount of spins on Urban/Rhythmic radio in the US...

That said it'll flop here entirely.

I dont think it will to be honest... It will eb another top15 hit for her... but i agree I dont think it will match the success of its predecessors
I love 'Listen'...probably my second favourite on the album behind 'Irreplaceable'....although that is not probably saying much given the standard of 'B'Day' <_< !
Listen is growing on me more & more. its just amazing, so is ring the alarm! i hope these are released
