To be honest, to give Robbie an award and nominate him just becouse he's the best selling british singer is a total bull$h!t. Last year , Robbie has'nt done anything outstanding ( i would'nt give him an award for the Rudbox) except for the big tour , besides, i am almost confident that Take That will win 'best live act', not Robbie. Their tour last year was also huge and caused much more agiotage than Robbie's.

The Brits is not about quality, it's about quantity. It's about what is 'in' atm and what is selling and who agreed to perform. The entire thing is one big fix. If Robbie had've agreed to perform with TT like the Brits had hoped for I am positive they would've nominated him for alot more awards cause as I said the whole thing is fixed. -_-

Rudebox is a bloody brilliant album and he deserves recognition for not constantly playing it 'safe' and only releasing what he knows will sell atm. I like Take That but you could hardly say their album is outstanding either. I mean it is nothing new, original, intentive. Just a collection of 'nice' ballads. They're comback was one of the highlights of last year because of it's massive success. Patience is a good song and deservs to be nominated for 'best single'. Personally I don't think their is any comparision whatsoever as far as performing Live is concered. Both acts do completelly different types of show. TT do a pop show, based on special effects, dancers, outfit changes etc. Personally I do not like gigs like that all. It is all too cheesy for my liking. Their tour was built aroud nostalgia, but their comback is obviously not. Robbie's is undoubtably the best live performer in the UK and of his generation imo, even people who dislike him and his music will admit that.

Well said , I totally agree with you.

Robbie is the only artist out there who can completely perform a show for two hours without any fancy costumes, dancers, etc.

Of course the papers today when criticising him did not even mention his massive 3.6 million sell out tour & that EMI got 25% of the proceeds.

EMI have only themselves to blame for their bad results ( the writing has been on the wall for the last couple of years for EMI ) not Rudebox which was afterall only released October 23rd - are the journalists mad or what - they just dont like Robbie . They cannot stomach his success last year & have not said anything positive about him at all , so I am not surprised about the Brit nominations.

Rudebox is a brilliant album & I hope he continues to make great & INTERESTING music & the sooner he removes himself from the EMI goods train the better.

I am pretty sure locott TT will win everything this year too, thats how predictable it is, you don't have to be Einstien to know that.

They do have a good show and so does Robbie but Robbie does it on his own.

Surely TT won't win everything will they. What about Snow Patrol...they had an excellent single and album that are surely deserving of awards....and what about Scissor Sisters? Arctic Monkeys? TT might win one but surely other acts are just as deserving in other categories.

I am also bitterly disappointed that Rudebox won't be up for best album...I was hoping the panel would see it for the brilliant album it is and not be swayed by the lower than normal sales figs....guess not...and the fact that he is not up for best male is very disheartening

Jarvis Cocker?

LILY ALLEN will scoop FOUR Brit Awards nominations tonight when they are formally announced at the show’s glamorous launch party.

The exact list is a closely guarded secret but, as usual, I’ve managed to get the story ahead of the pack.

I can reveal that Lily, with the most nominations, will be clear favourite to be the night’s big winner. She will be up for Best British Female, Best British Album, Best British Single and British Breakthrough Act.

I just hope she doesn’t “do a CRAIG DAVID†— and come away with nothing despite having the most entries, like Craig in 2001.

This sometimes happens because a star’s total votes get split into too many categories.

Lily beats CORINNE BAILEY RAE, MUSE, SNOW PATROL and JAMES MORRISON who will all be in line for three awards.

I hear ARCTIC MONKEYS, RAZORLIGHT, THE KOOKS, KASABIAN and AMY WINEHOUSE are up for two.

Newton's Theory

ON the whole I’d say Brits voters have got it RIGHT this year.

The Best Band category is one of the strongest in years – with Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and Razorlight all getting a nod. It shows that, despite dwindling album sales, this country is producing lots of exciting new music.

My only real gripe is that abandoning the pop category means some of our better pop acts are being overlooked.

The Sugababes have produced some classic pop records – as have Girls Aloud with Something Kinda Ooooh – and it seems unfair that they won’t be recognised.

As much as I find it puzzling to learn that Jarvis Cocker has a nomination for Best Male when he hasn’t really done much, I’m quite pleased.

The awards haven’t been the same since he stormed the stage during Jacko’s performance of Earth Song in 1996.

He was arrested and the footage was never shown on TV.

CHUMBAWAMBA throwing water over JOHN PRESCOTT in 1998 was amusing.

But I’m hoping that having the likes of Jarvis and RUSSELL BRAND in the room will mean we get the chance of some controversy.

The British Male category will throw up a few surprises, too.

For a start, Brits bosses have finally forgiven JARVIS COCKER for his on-stage shenanigans with MICHAEL JACKSON and have given him a shock nomination.

The other shake-up is that ROBBIE WILLIAMS has a nomination after all. It was wrongly reported in a rival newspaper that King Of The Brits Robbie — who has a record 15 gongs — is to be snubbed. But he will be nominated for British Live Act — alongside GEORGE MICHAEL, among others.

It’s going to be a bad year for girl groups, though.

Record company sources tell me that neither SUGABABES nor GIRLS ALOUD have a single nomination between them.

No need to buy a new party frock then, girls.

And last year’s X Factor winner, SHAYNE WARD, has been left out in the cold while this year’s champion, LEONA LEWIS, will get a nod for her No1 single A Moment Like This.

The British Group category will see MUSE fighting it out with Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Razorlight and Snow Patrol — a very tough one to call.

I can’t imagine anyone other than JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE walking away with the International Male gong — no one has even come close in 2006.

And I reckon NELLY FURTADO deserves to win the International Female award for her brilliant album Loose.

It is cutting-edge, classy, and doesn’t just churn out more of the same old stuff — like BEYONCE or PINK have done. If there was a Best International Single category then it should be a fight between Nelly’s No1, Maneater, and Timberlake’s SexyBack.

This year Brits organisers have changed a lot of the categories. They have dropped Best Rock, Best Urban and Best Pop.

But the Best Single, sponsored by Bizarre, is turning into a live vote, with the lines closing during the event, making it much more exciting on the night.

The Earls Court show, on February 14, will be broadcast live on ITV1.

OASIS are set to close it with a medley of hits after receiving the Outstanding Contribution To Music gong.

<_<

Why the fuck should Lily Allen win 4 awards, she dosn't even to deserve to be nominated

Oh yes, I forgot, this is the Uk <_<

Award shows like the Europe MTV Awards, NRJ Awards, etc. awards like that are 10000x better when it comes to awards

Good luck to Robbie at the Brits, Jarvis feckin Cocker? I expect Will to be snubbed as usual, even though he's got 3xplatinum sales again, poor sod turns up every year and never even gets asked to perform. I think it'll be Robbie,Morrison, Lemar, Nutini and George Michael for best male, what do you lot think?

    he well deserves this one

He had better win  I really like George Michael but no way is he as good as our man ^_^

Nope, Robbie is'nt up for Best male, only best live act this year.

They have deliberatly gone out of their way this year to snub him despite him achiving more in the last 12 months than most of the other that will be nominated (especially Jarvis) could ever dream off. <_<

It is a joke.

Oh so the Best Live Act is a public vote? He has no chance then. :P It'll be like the votes in 'Hello'.

He'll win it.

The Rob fans are good at voting and with no Take That I don't think the other fans will come close. Unless of course it's fixed

I know. Like the 'Hello' vote.

:P

With the exception of George Michael the other ones are not really Radio 2 fodder are they? Although Muse always seem to win these Live Act votes.

So TT have only one nomination as well. Wonder if the tabloids will make headines out of that. I think George will be Rob's biggest competition, but I pray Rob will win this one....he deserves it after his massive year  .

The only 2 acts Radio 2 listeners will recognise from that list are Rob and George :D

I think Rob should have this one in the bag as he has a much bigger fan base (including most TT fans) than George has. Unless of course as Linz says, it's fixed ;)

When do we start voting then?

And I hope it's one vote per person and not 'click as many times as you like' as it was with the MTV Europe votes.
