omg The X Files got 880k on its return last night. The last series (one or two years ago) started with over 3m for the overnights and 5m overall. It was the big return but there were only six episodes (i think), surely people don’t get over a programme THAT quickly!!

Yeah, truly awful for The X Files. As Klaus said, the previous series which aired February to March 2016 rated 3.5m overnight and consolidated to 5.1m for its first episode. It did drop to 1.7m on the overnights for its finale, but that's still 1m ahead of what it rated last night.

20:00 What Would Your Kid Do? - 3.34m (17.5%)

First Emmerdale/Eastenders clash of the year - that's actually a decent rating for Eastenders in these circumstances, although a 1.6m lead for Emmerdale is much bigger than usual.

The finale of Next of Kin did well to be in line with the last few episodes considering it aired on a different day to usual. The series averaged 2.73m.

Still Open All Hours averaged 4.77m this series, down on the 5.45m of the previous series.

McMafia averaged 4.05m over the series - not too bad I guess but I think the BBC expected better. It's still adding 2m with 7-day time-shift though and wasn't as big a flop as SS-GB was last year.

Dancing On Ice has really slipped down the ratings - it's only been 5 weeks since it opened with 7.51m and was still above 6m three weeks back.
